Our 2:1 Device Initiative: Caring For Devices At Home and At School

Dear Anna Yates Families,

Since our 2:1 device initiative was shared a little less than a month ago, students in grades 2-5 were issued a new Chromebook to use at school and their Chromebook they were using in the classrooms was sent home.

For this initiative to be successful, it is important our students care for their devices, both at home and at school, so when using their Chromebooks please reinforce that they:

  • Keep it on a flat surface like a table or a desk.

  • Keep any items from piling up on top

  • Keep the keyboard clear of items when closing it

  • Keep food and drinks away; make sure your hands are clean.

  • Be careful when carrying it: make sure it is closed, always use two hands, and never carry it by the screen

  • Keep it charged; plug it in when you are not using it

  • Keep the Chromebook clean and free of stickers

  • Unplug headphones and chargers before moving

  • Tell the teacher or office right away if it breaks

  • Remember, this device is loaned to you and is the school’s property.

Thank you for your support and please let me know if you have any questions,

Mrs. Burke

You can support their successful participation by reminding your child to:

  • Take their time and do not rush
  • Read each question and answer choice carefully
  • For math, show their work using scratch paper
  • For reading, read and reread each passage
  • Check their work!
  • Try their best!
