By: Briana Murphy
In the game Bullets and Ballots what groups where involved, and who had the power?
Within this simulation there were five groups; the Government of Guatemala, Army and Wealthy, Peasants, Guerillas, and the United States. The one group that had most of the power was the Army and Wealthy.
How the balance of power shifted and why?
The balance of power has shifted by the Army and Wealthy to the Guerillas because they both fought each other and won and lost, gaining MSU's and losing MSU's.
How was cooperation and conflict shown in the game (violence/corruption/war).
The conflict that has occurred in this game is people broke thier treaties. Also the cooperation that occurred in this game was when both the Guerilla's and the Peasant's joined together and formed thier own group.
What role did the US have on the simulation?
The United States either helps somone or hurts somone. The United States also is the most powerful nation, therefore letting them have a say in what will happen.
What happens to a country when power shifts, is the effect positive or negative?
When the power shifts in the country, the people competing for power try harder to get the power back. Therefore having more conflicts. Which means it can either have a positive effect or negative. Positive because the people last in charge could have been doing a really horrible job and the people now in charge are a better leader. Also it could be negative because the people that took the power could be a really bad group of people.
What relationships do you have in your life, and how are cooperation and conflict evident?
This is applied to my everday life, because my brothers and i fight over the power in the front of the seat. For example, sometimes i get to have the power to sit in front and sometimes my brother gets to sit in front, usually by the choose my mom picks who sits in front.
Also the conflict that the United States has with Syria right now, we have arguments whether there is atomic bombs being made in Syria. Therefore asking the United States if we should get involved even more and attack Syria tell they stop making atomic bombs, if they are making them.
You could also say that their is cooperation with the United States and Haiti, with us [United States] helping them out after the earthquake that hit them on January 12, 2010. We [Americans] have made songs and gave a lot of our money to people in Haiti.
