The Wright Brothers flew the first plane at Kitty Hawk in 1903, creating a never before seen method for transportation. Charles Lindbergh popularized it through his flight across the Atlantic in 1927. Airmail gained popularity as a method in delivering mail across continents and seas.
ENTERTAINMENT
Games also gained popularity during this time period, including Mahjongg from China. Thus the game industry was born, although not as advanced as today.
Radios were not only a form of communication but entertainment. Families would get together to listen to radio shows and soon political speeches were broadcast on radio.
Music took a turn for the better in the 1920s. The creation of Jazz led to new fashions and dances. Said to have been derived from Dixieland and Ragtime, Jazz was popularized by Louis Armstrong. Speakeasies would feature jazz and many prominent figures rose from this genre including Duke Ellington. Jazz led to the Blues, the music of New Orleans, and gained popularity quickly in the United States.
