MTRSD S'Update Back to School
September 1, 2021
Dear Mohawk Trail & Hawlemont Families,
Happy BACK TO SCHOOL!
I'm so excited to welcome students back into the classroom and kick-off the new school year with you! Compared to last September, the start of this academic year feels a little more "normal," even during the most abnormal of times in the midst of a global pandemic.
Here at MTRSD and HRSD, we are TRAILBLAZERS. LEADERS. EDUCATORS. What's YOUR Superpower? We'll be using this theme throughout the year to highlight our students and staff - embracing THEIR "superpowers" as learners and educators. As we embark on another year of learning and growing together, we hope YOU embrace your inner super-hero and remember that we all have something to celebrate along the way. YOU are what make Mohawk Trail and Hawlemont GREAT places to learn and grow!
And with that... here's just a few housekeeping items for BACK TO SCHOOL you'll find in this newsletter:
* WELCOME BACK, students and families (video)
* What's YOUR Superpower (video) - Learn more about what makes our districts so special.
* Welcome back to our staff (video)
* Back to School printable signs (elementary families)
* Transportation
* What's for lunch?
* COVID-19 information, district dashboard, & the Fab FIVE
WELCOME BACK to our staff!
Back to School printable signs - for elementary families!
Elementary families - if you're looking for a fun print-out to use with your first day photos, please head over to your school's Facebook page to get the link to download one of our signs! There's a sign for Grades PreK through 6 in the PDF.
AND if you're feeling festive and would like to share your photos with us, be sure to use one of the following hashtags on your public posts so we can see all your smiling faces and maybe feature them here!
#BSEFirstDay21
#CCSFirstDay21
#SandersonFirstDay21
Transportation - BUS ROUTE UPDATES!
To view the most updated information, visit our district website here: www.mtrsd.org/Transportation. This information can be found from the homepage-->Departments-->Transportation.
What's for lunch?
You can also get there directly from your school website too (helpful links-->food services). And remember, breakfast and lunches continue to be FREE for all students regardless of family income this year thanks to a free meal extension from the federal government. While breakfast and lunch will remain free, we do ask that you still complete the free and reduced lunch forms sent home with your child. Information provided on those forms help us to qualify for numerous grant and other opportunities to benefit our schools and district. Thank you in advance!
COVID-19 information and the district dashboard
On this page, you'll find helpful links to important information and resources. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me anytime (sstanton@mtrsd.org).
And don't forget to practice the Fab FIVE -- GET VACCINATED; wear your mask; wash your hands; practice physical distancing; and stay home when you're not feeling well. Together, we can continue to keep our community healthy and safe!
A quick note from our school Nurse Leader Donna Weber - if your child has received the COVID-19 vaccine, please remember to provide your child's physician with a copy of the vaccination card so it will be included on your child's list of updated vaccines. You may also provide a copy directly to the nurse's office as well (and if you lose a copy of the card, we'll have a record of it!). If you have any further questions or health-related inquiries, please don't hesitate to reach out to Nurse Weber at dweber@mtrsd.org or your school nurse.
Thanks for all you do to make Mohawk Trail and Hawlemont School Districts GREAT places to learn and grow!
