What's going on in the world of Riviera

This Friday, October 8: NO SCHOOL, NO CHILDCARE

We have been using the Driveline app to facilitate pick-up at the end of each school day. Please consider these ways to help us ensure the process goes smoothly:

  • If you need to get out to assist your child, park your vehicle and walk to the classroom door
  • Pull in as close as you can to the vehicle ahead of you, just leaving the walkway clear. The people with their taillights hanging out into the street at the back of the line will thank you.
  • If you drive a big truck, don't lay your card on the dash. Mrs. Gerber is vertically challenged and can't see anything way up there!
  • The visor is a great place to put your card ONLY if your windshield is not tinted.
  • Once the driveline has started, please pay attention to the vehicle in front of you and follow closely

We are working out a few last details in our procedures. If you have suggestions for how we can make the process better, please let us know!

Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who help our teachers in so many ways, from supervising recess to helping with class projects and driving kids on field trips.

Please be aware that the OHA and ODE requires on-site volunteers to provide documentation of being vaccinated or have exemption forms filled out and on file at school. Those who have exemptions may be limited in how much time they can spend in contact with students and staff. This policy does not apply to people who come into school briefly, such as to drop off a student, or pick up student work.

We are still looking for volunteers to help count laps at the Jogathon! Please contact Mrs. G at to volunteer.

Riviera Runners

We're getting geared up for Jogathon! The class that raises the most money PER PERSON will win an ice cream party. The three top fundraisers schoolwide will win Target gift cards worth up to $25. On Saturday, October 23, RCS 4th and 5th graders are invited to join Mrs. Gerber for a West Salem 2-mile walk 'n run at 10 AM RAIN OR SHINE! Watch for details to follow.

Remember! Six fantastic runners will qualify for a day trip to Silver Falls with Mrs. Gerber and Mrs. G in early November. The boy and girl from grades 3, 4 and 5 who run the most laps will enjoy a "Hike and Run" around the Trail of Ten Falls and have a picnic lunch. We hope to have another Silver Falls outing in the spring for all 3rd through 5th graders.
