TLC School Improvement Update
ATTENDANCE--We want every student to have a minimum of 85% attendance for the entire school year.
ACADEMIC GROWTH--We want every student to meet or exceed their MAP Reading and Math Growth Goal
LIFE READINESS--We want every student to meet the requirement for post secondary readiness according to the Kentucky Department of Education.
Attendance We all know that regular attendance is essential to academic success, graduating on time, and ultimately preparing for life after high school. At TLC we focus on employability, and showing up to school and class on time is a major part of being employable. Many of our students and families struggle with attendance, but the only way to improve is for us to work together. How can you help?
| Academic Growth We are finishing up with MAP testing this week. All students at TLC take the Reading and Math MAP tests in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. The MAP test is an adaptive test that measures a student's academic growth compared to other students around the nation. Once students have finished MAP testing, we will set goals and their teachers will work with students to achieve these goals. How can you help?
If you need more information about he MAP test explore the following resource: | Life Readiness AT TLC our students immerse themselves in the local community by participating in what we call Working Wednesdays, every two weeks. On Working Wednesdays, we transport our students off campus, so they can interact with the community through post-secondary educational site visits, career site visits, community service, and educational experiences. In addition, we will also bring community contacts into our building as well. We have two upcoming Working Wednesday on September 13th and September 27th. Remember, students will be dismissed at 1:10 on these days.
