Principal's Corner
Thanks to the many of you who attended our Back-to-School Night last night! It was great to see so many Park Families preparing for another wonderful year. I hope you were able to get an idea of what your child's day was like. As always, if you have questions or comments about our event please don't hesitate to send them my way.
Those that attended yesterday evening have already hear that this week our PTO kicked off their annual Jog-a-thon fundraiser. This is the only fundraiser for our PTO (our band students also separately have one benefiting the band program only). There are no other fundraising sales throughout the year. The money our PTO collects directly benefits the school in powerful ways. With their partnership, we have been able to dramatically increase technology in our building, support staff with field trips and projects, and help turn our schoolwide PARK program into a valuable incentive for many students. The great thing about this once per year event is that all proceeds go straight to our PTO and they, in turn, help fund programs that are great for students. As an added benefit, if we reach the fundraising goal of $21,000 I (and our assistant principals) will be dying our hair half blue and half yellow and creating a TikTok "dance" video to be shared with our students. I don't even know what it is, but the students were going crazy for it when the PTO announced it at lunch yesterday. Guess I better start planning...
Again, thanks to the many of you who attended our Back-to-School Night last night. We look forward to partnering with you this school year to make it the best one yet at The Park!
Make it a great week!

Speak Up 4 Student Success: HB 3427 - Student Success Act Community Conversations
The Oregon Legislature passed and the Governor signed the $2 billion Student Success Act (HB 3427) in Spring 2019. This is an historic and much needed investment in K-12 schools. The Beaverton School District could be able to access an estimated $34 million per year through a state application process.
School districts are required to apply for funds, and must engage their community in a needs assessment process prior to the application for funds. All Beaverton schools will be engaging their communities in these conversations during September and October.
Please join us to talk about what student success looks like in our school and the Beaverton School District? What is going well in our schools? What areas/services/programs could we improve? Your voice matters! We welcome your perspective and opinion.
Meadow Park Speak Up 4 Student Success Community Conversations offered in English & Spanish: Wednesday, October 9th at 6pm in the Meadow Park library.
Wear your college gear every Friday!
Dressed down and ready for PE on the right day!
Last reminder...
Many of our students do not like dressing down in the locker room for PE. We understand that, but it is critical that all of our students dress PE ready on the days that they have PE. Wearing athletic clothing that is appropriate for physical activity allows to us experience movement through our full range of motion. In addition, it is ensures that we are safe in PE. When we wear clothing that is inappropriate for physical activity, we run the risk of having our movement restricted or finding ourselves slipping, tripping, or falling over because of our choice of dress. Please sit down with your son and daughter to determine if they have PE on Blue or Yellow Days. Then, using the Meadow Park's Blue/Yellow Day Calendar, mark the days that they need to come to school in clothing that is suitable for PE. Suitable clothing is "athletic clothing" and most importantly - comfortable tennis shoes that lace up! Thank you so much for your support!
Chromebooks are in student hands!
Last reminder...
Chromebook distribution was a success! Please take some time this weekend (if you didn't do it last weekend) to sit down with your son or daughter and review the following Chromebook expectations.•Chromebook should always remain in their case when not in use.
•If your child is cleaning his or her Chromebook, please remember to use only computer safe cleaning wipes that can be used on the keyboard and screen. Some products can scratch or damage the device.
•Avoid eating or drinking when working on the Chromebook.
•Chromebooks are tied to school district accounts and should be used for academic purposes. In the event your child's Chromebook is used inappropriately, he or she can be held responsible. The district IT department is able to review all website, email, and google chat activity. It is important that students and families are aware of this.
•Please set up a Chromebook charging station at home to ensure a fully charged Chromebook is brought to school each day. All chargers need to remain at home. Be aware that it is a $20 fee if your child looses his or her charger.
•Celebrate that we are incredibly lucky to have a 1:1 technology program in Beaverton!
VERY IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you have paid your $20 Insurance Fee. If something happens to your child's Chromebook, and you have not paid your $20 Insurance Fee, you are responsible for the full cost of replacing or repairing the Chromebook.
Our new bulletin board is up! One Fly, We All Fly!
A big thank you to all of our 6th grade teachers and students for sharing a dream they have for their future or the future of others and coloring their feathers. Our Park Guides were incredible leaders in modeling this first day activity, as well. Thank you, Park Guides!
