Credit By Exam
Students in grades K-8 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level or accelerate in math only. Students are permitted to have one opportunity to test for each grade level or math course considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered with a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam for grade level acceleration will qualify to advance one grade. Students who earn a score of 80% or better on the math credit-by-exam assessment will qualify to advance one grade level in math. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. 2023-24 Learning Requests
We are already starting to plan ahead for a wonderful 2023-24 school year and we will soon begin the process of forming homeroom classes for next year. There are many variables that are used to match students to teachers, and the administration team works closely with grade-level teachers to ensure that all children may be as successful as possible in the upcoming school year. If you have concerns or information regarding the style of teacher that would best meet the needs of your child, please send a letter or email to Rennell.learningrequests@cfisd.net.
Although we do not take specific teacher requests, we would be happy to consider information you provide about your child’s learning style. Please be sure to include information that would help us match your student to the teacher characteristics (enthusiastic, warm, firm, etc.) that you feel would most help your child be successful. All letters must be received by the end of the day on April 28, 2023, for that information to be used during grade-level groupings. As you compose your letter, please remember to include your child’s name and grade level for the 2023-24 school year as well as input on your child’s learning needs; however, do not include any specific teacher names as we do not take specific teacher requests. Thank you for sharing information that will help us to set your child up for success next school year!
