Science of Alabama History Class Visits Montgomery
Our Science of Alabama History Class was able to experience how our State Government works while seeing how some of Montgomery, and our state's, unique physical characteristics shaped our history. The class was honored to have the opportunity to meet Alabama's Governor Kay Ivey as guests of Senator Paul Bussman. Senator Bussman was an amazingly gracious host who toured the class through both houses of Alabama's Congress. He spent two hours with our students, explaining the intricacies of the Alabama government and protocol that must be followed on the floor in both houses. Our students also carried a goodie bag for the Governor's dog, Bear. She was very appreciative of this gesture.
Representatives Corey Harbison and Representative Randall Shedd visited with the class just before the House came to order. After Representative Harbison successfully passed his bill on Domestic Violence in the Senate, the Representatives had our class recognized by the House of Representatives.
Students were able to tour the Alabama Archives and learn about Alabamian's impact on the world, and how the Fall Line shaped the biology of our state that has been reflected in the differing cultures of North and South Alabama.
