The Magic In The Middle!
Arcola Intermediate School- February 2020
February Features
We are working on intent and making the most out of each day. As students and teachers this is about focusing on the CAN and how to make things possible. Let's work with and be grateful for what we DO have. This is a total mind-shift in thinking and will take time and practice but a valuable lesson for us all. So parents, please join us in what is positively possible!
Counselor Corner
February was a busy month for our 8th Grade students as they get ready for high school. Students entered their course selections for next year in PowerSchool during a meeting with the high school counselors. Parents/guardians will be able to view their students’ requests starting on March 10. The deadline for any changes is April 6 through Ms. Berardelli in the Counseling Office.
The North Montco Technical Career Center held their annual open house on Feburary 6. If you missed it and are interested in a tour, you can contact North Montco directly to set up a tour.
Our 7th Grade students are in the middle of a career exercise in their social studies classes called Career Cluster Finder. Students on Team Tsunami completed it last week and Teams Blizzard and Avalanche will work on it in March. Students enter their interests, abilities, and subjects they like in school into the Naviance program and are given suggestions on which career clusters might be a good fit for them. They then looked at various careers in these clusters to learn more about what they involve and the knowledge and skills that are needed to be successful in those careers.

Parents, please take warning and read this important safety information below...
There is a new “challenge” that your student is likely seeing if they have access to the app Tik Tok. It's called "the skull-breaker challenge" and children are getting seriously injured. We would encourage you to monitor your child's social media access and perhaps engage them in a conversation about safety. Here is an article that describes it in more detail:
Be a thermostat and set the tone and climate...
don't just take the temperature like a thermometer!
