Keep saving those CAMPBELL'S SOUP LABELS, BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION AND PULL-TABS!
You can make a donation to our school without having to spend any extra money. Just clip labels from products you are probably already buying for your family and send them to school with your child. Our school can redeem them for free products, sporting goods, and even cash.
Our PTO coordinates the collection of labels from Campbell’s Soup and other products in the Campbell’s family including Pepperidge Farm, Swanson, Prego, Franco American, SpaghettiOs, V8, goldfish, Bic, and Pop Secret. If you read the label, it will tell you to save the lid or UPC code. More information about participating products and what to save can be found at labelsforeducation.com.
And you can collect BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION from hundreds of products that participate in the program. Our school receives 10¢ for each label collected. For a complete list go to boxtops4education.com.
As an incentive to participate, the PTO runs a couple of collection drives each year where each 25 items collected equals an entry into the drawing for your child. Past prizes have included passes for a free movie night at the Greendale Cinema and bags full of sporting goods including football, basketball, playground ball, etc.
Our school also collects pull-tabs from beverage cans to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Mrs. Margaret Craig coordinates the collection drive which includes a contest to see which class can collect the most pull-tabs and the winning class receives free lunch from McDonalds delivered to their classroom.
Congratulations go out to Mrs. Siemer and her first graders. They were this year’s winners collecting 42 pounds of pull-tabs. Our school contributed 294 pounds of tabs this year to add to the thousands we have collected over the years. Money from the recycling of these tabs is sent to the Ronald McDonald House to aid their work in providing support for families of sick children in the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

MES “Meet The Teacher” Night, Monday, August 3
Milan Elementary School will hold its annual Meet The Teacher Night on Monday, August 3, 2015. This will also be the time for paying book bills, depositing money in your child’s lunch account and/or applying for book/lunch assistance. For your convenience we will have booths set up in the gym beginning at 5:00 p.m. where you can take care of these back-to-school chores. There will also be a variety of informational booths including our special area staff and our PTO.
A new and very important part of the evening will be the introduction to the Chromebook/iPad your child will be using in the 2015-16 school year. You’ll learn all about it and how your child will use it during your “Meet the Teacher” session which will begin in the cafeteria at these times:
● Grade 1 at 5:45 p.m. ● Grade 2 at 6:10 p.m. ● Grade 3 at 6:30 p.m.
● Grade 4 at 6:50 p.m. ● Grade 5 at 7:10 p.m.
We hope you and your child will take advantage of this opportunity to visit school, find your child’s new classroom and meet the teacher. Grade level sessions should last approximately 30 minutes after which you are welcome to tour the building. This is a great opportunity to get your child’s school year off to a good start by establishing the line of communication between home and school.
School begins for students in grades 1-5 on Tuesday, August 4 with a regular, full day of school. Kindergarten students will have an orientation meeting on Monday, August 3 and begin their first full day on Wednesday, August 5. Watch for a letter to come home this summer with information concerning your child’s classroom assignment and book and lunch fees. For your back-to-school shopping convenience, here is next year’s SUPPLY LIST.

Kindergarten Registration
Milan Elementary held registration for students beginning Kindergarten this August on March 31st. If you have a child who will be five by August 1 and missed this registration date, we urge you to contact the school at 654-2922 to set up an appointment.
Please do not feel that you have to wait for a birth certificate and/or immunization record. You have until school starts to produce these documents. It is very important that we at least get your child registered and complete the screening process before August so we can order enough supplies and set up class rosters. Thanks!
