Glenealy School Newsletter
11th January 2017
Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,
Welcome to the new families who have joined the school since the beginning of this term and thank you as always to the Glenealy community for making them feel so welcome. With the opening of the hall celebrations coming up soon we look forward to seeing you all at school over the next couple of weeks.
This year our Chinese New Year celebrations will be integrated with the hall performances and we will be having Chinese Lion dancers coming to perform in our school playground on Monday 23 January at 8.30am. You are all welcome to join us that morning. The children and adults are encouraged to wear Chinese inspired clothing to celebrate the hall opening and the upcoming year of the Rooster. We hope to see you there.
Please note the schedule in this newsletter for all events that are taking place in school this term, including the Year 3 Bake Sale which is coming up soon!
Reporting to Parents
Teachers have been preparing mid-year reports for students and these can be accessed on Gateway on Monday 16 January after 5pm. Most of you will be very familiar with accessing reports online. As a reminder, to locate your child’s report on Gateway once you have logged in, click on ARR (the button is located under your child's photo) and choose the most recent report to view.
If you have any questions or queries, don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for clarification. International School Assessment (ISA) results for years 4-6 will be sent home in hard copy on Monday 23 January. Please look for these in your child’s diary. Feel free to ask SMT members if you have any queries with these.
Kind regards
Brenda

Uniform Shop News
Following a price review, all winter uniform items have now been discounted. Long-sleeved shirts and blouses are reduced to $60 and there are savings on our remaining fleeces, long trousers, sweatshirts and track pants.
Year 5 and 6 parents – we want to make it easy for you to keep your children comfortable and looking smart in uniform that fits. We have introduced extra discounts on our larger sizes – why not pop into the shop and take a look? There’s no reason why they can’t look good all the way until graduation day.
Seeking Uniform Shop Volunteers
We are recruiting shop volunteers for Term 2. If you can commit 45 minutes, once every two weeks and are interested in making a positive contribution to the school community, please contact Erika at pta@glenealy.net.
Student Discos
Students are invited to join us for pizza and dancing at our upcoming disco events. Years 1-3 will take place Thursday 9th February and Years 4-6 will take place Friday 10th February. Please watch the Newsletter for details.
