Language Arts/Reading and Writing
We're talking about central idea and supporting evidence in texts, specifically informational texts. As kiddos read at home ask if they can tell you the topic, central idea, and supporting evidence of the story or text they just read! We'll also be working on our writing; starting with Cinquain poems this week and procedural writing the rest of January.
Math
We're talking about place value! We're working on understanding the ones and tens place. We'll work on breaking a number apart into tens and ones, and also different ways of writing that number using our place value vocabulary.
Science & Social Studies
We're talking about space! We'll even create our own Space Museum at the end of this unit. Students will look into day and night, shadows, and so much more with this science unit. See below for information on supplies we'll need later in the unit for our Space Museum project.
Science Supplies Needed - More Information Coming Soon!
Keep an eye out for a supply list in your kiddo's planner in the coming weeks! We will be creating space museums in science in the weeks to come, and each kiddo will be assigned a group, and each group will come home with a list of supplies for you to send in.
