The importance of NET-T Standards

By: Artan Austin

Should all teachers across the country use certain practices?

Yes! I believe High-performing schools should show certain practices that each teacher believes “all students can learn.” And they should as such. If all teachers are on one accord…consistent across all spectrums of education, then this would promote unity throughout educators.

Should there be consistent standarts for teachers, just like for students? If so, what should the standards be?

Absolutely! There is a saying back in my day "What's good for the goose, is good for the gander." If teaching standards are consistent across the board, then educators should be required to take 20 hours of off-site training a year. They must pass all required courses, with a state mandated test at the end of each course. Teachers should also be required to test annually.

Yes I believe that all teachers near and far should practice as well as utilize the facilitator role via the “Basic tenets of constructivism.” (Newman, pg. 10.1, 2013)

No Teacher Left Behind

Are teachers being prepared to master the NET-T standards?

Technology has forever changed not only what we need to learn, but the way we learn. Technology is not the only thing evolving, so is the student. I do see the sense of urgency at all schools to keep up daily with the advancement of technology. Because of this advancement, teachers are forced to keep. Maybe forced is a little strong, but the 21st century teacher is honored to keep up with the 21st century student.
