Kindergarten Connection
January 15, 2021
Welcome to Our School!
From Mrs. Healey
We are excited that we were able to purchase the Kindergarten Academy T-shirts for our students this year. This has been a standing tradition ever since the full day kindergarten program began in the 2008-2009 school year. Typically, these t-shirts have been used on special days and field trips. Unfortunately, we will not be going on any field trips this year. We are going to have a special "unity" day for our students coming up on January 20th where we will all wear our t-shirts. Since we don't have as much intermingling of classrooms during our social development times, we'd still like our students to be able to see themselves as part of our large learning community.
As we approach the midpoint of this school year, we will be doing some additional benchmark testing and screening of all our students. Teachers will be carefully monitoring student progress and will be reaching out to families to schedule conferences with a focus on students who might be experiencing some difficulties either socially, academically, or with remote attendance. Those contacts will be made over the next few weeks and will be held on February 10th.
How can I support the school during the pandemic?
Also, on behalf of the entire staff, thank you to all the parents that made the Chocolate and Peppermint bar are wonderful treat for us! We truly enjoyed it!
How will attendance be taken on full remote learning days?
In order for a student to be marked “Present” for the class during synchronous experiences, he/she must:
● Attend the synchronous learning experience AND
● Demonstrate evidence of engagement in the learning activities assigned and connected to the learning
Also, please provide a written excuse or email kaoffice@mbgsd.org if your child missed a "Zoom" remote Wednesday or remote weather day just like you would do if your child missed a face-to-face day. The state defines what is an excused vs. an unexcused absence.
When does my child attend school face-to-face on Wednesdays?
Anytime the district has a day off during the week (Monday or Friday), students will attend on Wednesday to compensate for the missed time. Please reference the attached calendar which is only the schedule for the Kindergarten Academy. Reference the website for all other schools.
