What is Digital Citizenship?
Digital Citizenship is how you should behave online. There are rules to follow, but following them lets you have a good time on the internet! Below are some rules that you should follow for internet safety and good citizenship. Some people don't understand what Digital Citizenship is. So here are the basics:
Rule 1: Digital Ettiquette
Be kind online and think before you do anything. You must treat others the way that you want to be treated. Remember, these are real people communicating through the internet.
Rule 2: Information Privacy
Never give out personal information on the internet!!!!!!!! People can use this information to do bad things like mess up your social networking profile.
Rule 3: Social Networking
Use your head! Never post anything that you don't want your parents, teachers, or job managers to see.
Rule 4: Online Safety
Always keep your identity a secret!! Never tell anyone that you don't trust anything about you! Some people try to use personal information to cyberbully. (see below).
Rule 5: Cyberbullying
Don't post anything that you wouldn't say in real life! Many people could take offense from something that you think of as a joke! Cyberbullying is when you bully someone on the internet. Many people are cyberbullied.
Rule 6: Plagiarism
Don't copy other people's work! Plagiarism is taking other people's work and saying that it is yours. This can get you in serious trouble! For instance, you can get arrested for copying a picture without the creator's permission!
Rule 7: Copyright
Don't copy someones work without their permission. Always look for the copyright symbol. If you see this, then you can't copy or change that piece of art, article, or music disk without the creator's permission.
