New principal named for Irondale
An email update from Irondale High School
May 12, 2020
Dear Irondale High School community,
I am pleased to announce a new principal has been selected for Irondale High School. Pending School Board action, Carol Kampa will become principal effective July 1.
With 34 years in education and more than 18 years in administration, Carol is a seasoned instructional leader skilled at creating a high school climate that fosters respect, community and academic achievement. For 16 years, she has served Kennedy High School in Bloomington Public Schools, most recently as principal.
“I have seen first-hand the innovative programs and countless accomplishments of the Irondale students and staff,” she says. “I look forward to leading and serving this amazing school community.”
Given today’s social-distancing requirements, our search for a new principal involved a remote committee of parents, staff and students intent on finding a candidate with a clear vision for Irondale’s future. Despite this atypical approach, I’m confident we found the best person suited to lead Irondale. Carol is a strong believer in the power of school climate and how it facilitates student success and personal responsibility. As a New Brighton resident, she is especially familiar with the Irondale community. And as a principal in a similar-sized, high-performing school district, she is uniquely qualified to lead Irondale High School.
In the coming weeks, you will hear from Carol as she prepares for her new role at Irondale. We expect a smooth transition. Please join me in giving her a very warm welcome to this exceptional school community.
Sincerely,
Superintendent
