Bushy Bear Tales
Edition 12 - February 5, 2020
BUSHY PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Greetings BPES Community,
February brings many special events and opportunities to engage with one another at Bushy Park!
This evening, we are excited to kick off our Family Book Club for families in grades 3-5. If you are signed up, we look forward to meeting one another and connecting with our children using the book, Save Me a Seat, by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan.
Next week, we hope to see many of you at parent/teacher conferences in the area of mathematics. During our conference evening on Thursday, February 13, our PTA is offering a fun Valentines Workshop. You can drop your children off in the cafeteria to make a Valentine or other craft so that you can attend your parent/teacher conference. Afterwards, you are welcome to stay with your child to continue the fun at the Valentines Workshop!
Also on February 13, we invite you to join us for our first Coffee & Conversations! Join us for coffee and conversation as we gather together to strengthen and develop an inclusive community among ALL of our families. Childcare will be provided.
When: February 13 from 6pm-7pm
Where: Media Center
Who: All BPES families
What: Inclusive topics and building peer relationships around communication while enjoying coffee and sweet treats!
Why: Our hope is to promote an understanding that there are a variety of ways people communicate with each other and how we as a community can promote acceptance and inclusion.
All are welcome, but please RSVP if possible. This will help us to ensure we have enough treats as well as plan appropriate for childcare.
Fondly,
Julia Bialeski, Principal
Keith West, Assistant Principal

Students should not wear medical face masks to school for the prevention of the flu or other illnesses. If your child has a fever of 100.0 (or greater) or is contagious with any illness, the student may not come to school until the symptoms have cleared and the student has been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medications, such as Acetaminophen/Tylenol or Ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin.
Any student that has a documented medical need to wear a medical face mask to school must provide a note from their health care provider stating the medical need for a mask. These notes must be delivered to the health room and our health room staff will inform school staff of the student’s permission to wear the medical face mask during school hours. If the health room has not received a health care provider’s note, the student will need to remove the mask and place it in their backpack.
