Tinkerspace is in need of newspapers!

If you get the newspaper we would appreciate if you can save them for us and send them in to school with your student to bring down to the library. If you would like to send them in on their scheduled library day that would be great, or they can bring them in to Mrs. Gilkerson any morning and she can place them in the library. Thank you for your help with this!

Marco's Pizza Night

Once again Copopa is entering into the Marco's Pizza Night School Challenge!

There are a couple of ways to help us out!

1.Order online ANY day or time during the school year and we can earn Pizza Points.

2.Walk in or Call in orders on the designated Marco's Pizza Nights will also earn us points!

Marco's Pizza offers these School Nights and they give back a percentage of sales generated from those nights that are called in on the phone or placed in the store. They give EVEN MORE for orders placed ONLINE! All orders online will be counted in the year long Online Challenge. BE SURE to hit the fundraiser button before you order!

This works for either the Strongsville or Berea location! Be sure to enter our school name when placing your order! Our designated day is Thursday, February 17, 2022. But remember that we can earn points ANY day of the year if you order online and enter our school name and if you remember, your child's teacher's name!

Bob the Plant -By Sophia Showman

The students in Mrs. Bowman’s classroom have a class pet. It's not an ordinary class pet like a hamster or a fish, rather a plant named Bob. One day, a student in Mrs. Bowman’s classroom, named Sophia Showman, noticed that Bob was dying. So she decided that over winter break she should take Bob home to take care of him and find out what was wrong with him. She told Mrs.Bowman that her family are plant wizards and what she meant by that was she has 14 plants and none of them are dead. Mrs. Bowman agreed to let Sophia take Bob home over break to see what she could discover about Bob. So after Sophia got home she placed the plant in front of her mom's office window with all the other plants and Sophia's mom said, “When was the last time he was watered?” Sophia stated, “I believe yesterday.” Sophia and her Mom discovered that Bob had been over-watered and that we should water him every 9-10 days. Sophia also discovered that Bob had been too close to the window in the classroom and was getting too cold. Three weeks later Bob came back to Mrs. Bowman’s class healthier than ever. He now sits farther away from the window and is watered on a less regular basis.

Do you know what a Trundle wheel is?

It is a very cool tool used to measure large distances. This tool is used in the real world by constructions workers, engineers, and anyone who needs to measure long distances quickly and easily. Our 3rd graders got the opportunity to use this useful and fun tool to find the area and perimeter of the hallway.

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Dunn

We've been super busy since coming back from Winter Break! 1st graders learned about perseverance and not giving up with our "Biggest Best Snowman" lesson, we even watched a short video about a girl born with no legs who became an Olympic ski champion. 2nd grade learned about "Stick and Stone", friendship, and made "friendship catchers". 3rd grade learned about hope, 4th grade had a lesson about discrimination and Martin Luther King, Jr., and kindergarten learned that it's "OK to be Different" and made self portraits. I have included 4th grade and kindergarten pictures for you to see, I hope you like them!

As always, if you have questions about your child, or about any of the lessons that I do here at Copopa, please feel free to reach out anytime. I am always available for students and families. Enjoy the lovely snow, have a cup of hot cocoa, and before you know it, it will be Spring!
