Sablatura Middle School Library
January Newsletter
Welcome Back
Mrs. Foreman has spent the first few weeks in the library discussing with students different things to keep in mind when looking for library books, such as their favorite authors, genres, series, and books that have been made into movies. She also shared with them challenges they could do also (a book published this year, a book they could finish in a day, etc.).
New Books for the New Year
While we were out of school for a few weeks, the library received some new books for the new year.
Overdrive
Students are allowed to checkout eBooks from the library via OverDrive. There is a link on the library webpage (http://www2.pearlandisd.org/webpages/sforeman/). There is also an app. Student's login is their Student ID# and the password is pearlandisd.
Goodreads
Goodreads is a website/app that allows readers to keep track of the books that they read, as well as books that they would like to read. They can rate the books they read and write reviews. To find out more information on this website, visit www.goodreads.com.
Bluebonnet Voting Deadline is January 22nd!
January 22nd is the deadline for students to be eligible to vote for this year's Bluebonnet books. Students must read at least five of this year's books and answer the questions for each book on the library website. The questions can be found at http://www2.pearlandisd.org/webpages/sforeman/index.cfm?subpage=52133
Read It Forward 2016
Our Read It Forward book this year is Zane and the Hurricane: A Story of Katrina by Rodman Philbrick. It is one of this year's Bluebonnet books. Students will learn all about this program in the next few weeks.
