Mr. Corso's Weekly Update
April 26, 2020
Mr. Corso’s Principal’s Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
Dear BMMS Family,
Distance Learning Survey: As I previously mentioned, it is important for our school to know how we are supporting families during distance Learning. Please take this survey to let us know how we are doing...LINK. Thank you!
Recording of Assignments in Synergy: Our staff has been working on creating a consistent system of recording assignments during Distance Learning. This system will start next week. Each assignment will be designated as “Not for Grading”. This will show a grade of N/A for students, in StudentVUE and parents, in ParentVUE. Please don’t be alarmed when you see a N/A for an overall grade. Each task will be recorded as “ / ” for credit or “ 0 ” for one that is incomplete or missing. If your student has a number of 0’s, they should email the teacher and receive clarification. We hope this consistent recording system will help families monitor progress.
Homeroom Lesson for this Week: We had put a pause on Homeroom for the short term. BMMS does have some lessons we want students to have the opportunity to engage in. This is our last No Place for Hate Activity for this school year and with its completion we will be designated a No Place for Hate school for the 20-21 school year!! Students, please complete this Homeroom Lesson this week related to what's most important to you in your life. Share the final product with your family.

8th Grade Promotion: We are currently discussing options for an 8th Grade Promotion at BMMS. We want to do something that honors our 8th graders and their families. Our Foundation and teachers are discussing options. More info should be coming in future Parent Communications regarding Promotion for this year.
Positive Prevention Update: 7th Grade Parents (only), Poway Unified School District will be moving the Positive Prevention Health Unit, usually taught in 7th grade, to next year’s 8th grade curriculum. Our teachers would like to teach these topics in the classroom in order to fully teach and support each student. 7th graders will have time this year to delve deeper into their Chemistry unit, and the 8th grade teachers are working on their plans to integrate this unit into their curriculum for the 2020-21 school year. Contact Kelly Stine at kstine@powayusd.com if you have any questions.
Progress Reports: This past Friday was supposed to be our Progress Report deadline. Because of the current circumstances, we are rescheduling our Progress Reports in order to have more time to report student progress during Distance Learning. We will share more information soon regarding when Progress Reports will be sent. Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for all your support, patience and grace,
