Back to School Events
Wednesday July 13 - Class Assignment Emailed Out - an email from the Infinite Campus system will be sent to your email on record to let you know which teacher your child is assigned. This will also include information on Meet the Teacher and a suggested supply list for your student.
As is our typical practice, our class lists are balanced strategically with the intent to build positive group dynamics and diverse learning groups. We work hard to keep the integrity of our placement process. For these reasons, we will not be able to take any requests for class or teacher changes. We ask that parents be supportive and respectful of the time and effort that has gone into preparing our class configurations.
Saturday July 16 - Operation Back to School - This event provides Chandler K-12 students with backpacks filled with school supplies and information on free after school programs. The event is designed to help families that would otherwise struggle to purchase all the needed supplies for their student’s first day back to school.
This year's event will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2022 8am to 10am. Backpacks will be distributed via a drive-thru style format, similar to CUSD's curbside meal pickup.
Families may visit: Chandler High School Student Parking Lot 350 N. Arizona Ave. Students MUST be present to receive a backpack. Please have your student's school name and grade ready when you arrive. If you have any questions please contact info@forourcitychandler.org
Monday July 18 - Meet the Teacher - 5:00-6:30pm. - Please visit your child's classroom, check out the new library furniture, take a tour of the campus and visit the cafeteria to meet our PTO board, representatives from transportation, Kids Express after school care and the YMCA. The Ice Cream truck will be on campus to purchase ice cold treats as you leave campus.
Wednesday July 20 - First Day of School for Students! The gates open at 8:15 and the bell rings at 8:25am.
August 9 - Parent Night of Learning - stay tuned for specific information about this event.
Safety Protocols and Procecdures
Our number one priority is to keep your children safe at school. We have protocols and procedures in place to help make our campus safe. Please review these as a family and make sure anyone who comes to pick up your child is also aware of our procedures.
Adults on Campus -
- All adults on campus will wear a badge/sticker to indicate that they are either an employee or a visitor. If you are on campus, you must first check in at the office and get a visitor's badge.
- We are excited to welcome families back on campus this year! Parents are encouraged to come volunteer in the classrooms. We ask that it be pre-arranged with the teacher ahead of time for a designated time and that you check in at the office and wear a badge.
- All staff will wear staff shirts on the first day of school to help our youngest and new students easily recognize an employee and get assistance if needed.
- We do have new staff in the front office, so if you come to pick up your child, or ask for information, we will ask for identification; please be prepared to show it.
- Parents bringing items from home (forgotten water bottles, books etc.) will leave it at the front desk, and our team will get it to your child as soon as possible.
- We use the first quarter to review our procedures with our students. Therefore, we will hold off until 2nd quarter allowing parents to have lunch on campus with their children. When the weather cools, we will get it set up and enjoy the new outdoor tables!
- No parents are permitted on the playground before, after school or at recess times.
Drop-off and Pick-up -
- When using the drive thru drop off or pick up, please pull all the way forward until you are at the end or there is a car stopped in front of you. There will be staff or Safety Squad Students motioning you to move forward or to stop, please be respectful and follow their direction. Once stopped only the student gets in or out of the car. For their safety, students must always exit from the passenger side of the car. If they are unable to do this, you will need to park and walk your student to campus.
- Cars picking up children should have a sign in the window to help us match the student to the car quickly. (You'll get a sign at meet the teacher)
- If you park in the parking lot, please walk student to the crosswalk. Students may not exit their cars in the parking lot without an adult.
- As always be aware of your surroundings as you drive around any school. Children assume drivers are watching out for them.
Gates -
- All of our gates remain locked during the school day. The only way on to our campus during the day is through the front office.
High Heat -
- Our district has a standard formula for determining when it is too hot for children to play outside. We believe outside play is important, so we watch the weather carefully, encourage shade and water breaks, and when it reaches the "high heat zone" we do indoor activities only.
- Please make sure to send your child with a refillable water bottle with their name on it. We do have the refillable drinking fountains around campus.
Breakfast and Lunch
Due to USDA regulations, Universal Free meals HAVE NOT been extended to the 22-23 school year. Breakfast will be available to students for $2.00 per meal and lunch will cost $3.00 per meal. Attached in this newsletter are flyers about this information.
We will have paper copies of the Free and Reduced Lunch Form available for Meet the Teacher. Families may also fill it out online at https://www.myschoolapps.com
