Loveland's Expectations
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Dear Loveland Families,
As we enter the month of November, autumn is in full swing and we have been enjoying the beautiful fall weather. School will be closed for students on November 24th, 25th and 26th for Thanksgiving break. As we approach Thanksgiving, we would like to take the time to thank all of our Loveland families for your continued support, volunteerism, and participation in the many aspects of your children’s education. At Loveland, we are also thankful for the extremely talented and dedicated staff who have the privilege of helping your children learn and grow each day. Together we create a partnership that is essential to the success of our Loveland students and for that we continue to be thankful.
Ms. Hornung

Student of the Month
Loveland has begun recognizing a student of the month in each grade level this year. These students are nominated as a result of their effort, character, work completion, self-control, attitude towards others, citizenship, leadership, and integrity. Along with a small prize and being recognized at an all school assembly they were awarded a yard sign to display in their yard. The following were our September honorees:
Kindergarten - Fletcher Lyons
First Grade - Iyla Kamrath
Second Grade - Jonas Manning
Third Grade - Ruby Duggins
Fourth Grade - Finley Woodson
Fifth Grade - Luke Van Dyke
Sixth Grade - Lily Hoff
TAGG for Loveland
The Loveland Community Club is partnering with TAGG to raise funds for our school. TAGG is an app that you can use after you shop at local participating businesses [drive.google.com]. You simply download the app, upload your receipt, and raise money for Loveland. Between November 8 and December 17, we have the goal of raising 500$. All money raised will go to our Loveland holiday fund to help families in need this holiday season.
For more information on how to TAGG, check out this short video [youtu.be].
Thank You
The Loveland staff and students would like to thank the many parents who attended our Halloween parade.
Thank You
I am happy to report that we had 99% participation in our fall parent/teacher conferences. Our shared commitment and support of student learning certainly shows! THANK YOU!
Ms. Hornung
LUNCH ACCOUNT
Remember to set-up your child's lunch account through My School Bucks. This is an easy way to add money for a la cart items or extra portions, for your child's favorite lunch items. They will thank you for that. When setting up your child(ren) you will need their student ID, which you can obtain by calling the front office.
Snow Days
Nebraska winters can get tough at times. When snow accumulates and the bitter wind blows, Westside Community Schools share with parents a concern for the safety of their children. Here are a few guidelines that should help us in working together to assure the safety of students, no matter how bad the weather.
- If bad weather occurs, you will receive a phone/text message from the District either the night before or that morning.
- We will also ask the local radio and television stations to make an announcement.
- You may also call the Information Line, 402-390-2299 for information about closings.
Outside Recess
Students will be going outside as long as the temperature or the wind chill is not below 10 degrees. Please have your child wear appropriate clothing for the colder weather. Please make sure that all outer clothing items are marked with your child’s name.
Wednesday Dismissal
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
2022 Battle of the Books
Mark your calendars to join us for the 2022 Battle of the Books on March 19, 2022 at Westside Middle School! This annual Westside district tradition provides an opportunity for teams of 3-5 students in 4th-6th grade to participate in a quiz bowl-style competition where they answer questions based on content from the 2021-2022 Golden Sower nominees.
Please visit our FAQ or Rules pages for more information about the event. Registration will be in October. Happy reading!
