Message from Principal Taylor......................................

It's so hard to believe that the second semester and third quarter have begun. This is a great time for students to regroup and refocus. It is my hope there will be an increase in student attendance, an increase in the completion and submission of assignments, and an increase in the level of student engagement during class.

We recognize that learning in this virtual setting has been very challenging for students academically, socially, and emotionally. We know that it is important to recognize, praise, and reward students who exhibit good work habits, comply with procedures and policies, and adhere to teacher expectations. Therefore, we will be rolling out our virtual PBIS program this month to incentivize our students so they will continue to thrive in the classroom.

Should you have any suggestions on ways to motivate your child(ren), please reach out to your grade-level administrator or school counselor.

This week is National School Counseling Week and I'd like to recognize our counseling department for the fabulous work they do. Our counseling team works above and beyond the call of duty to connect with students and families to address any challenges you may be facing academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. If your counselor has helped you in any way, please take a moment to send an email, tweet, postcard, letter, or any other positive sentiment to say thank you.

Application deadline is February 12th by 3 pm.

Library News from Ms. H-J!

Seahawks Read Our winter reading challenge, Books Like Us, is almost over. So far Seahawk students and staff have read over 54,000 minutes in January! 641 badges have been earned by 302 Active Readers. Kudos to our 7th graders who have really stepped up to read and participate – 207 of them have been reading and logging their minutes.

All students are encouraged to log in to Beanstack and record their reading. Students who are logging their minutes say that it helps them see their progress and growth as readers. They enjoy the challenge of seeing if they can read more from one month to the next. Students can find Beanstack in their Clever app – it is the yellow heart. Watch for our special Beanstack Black History Month activities next month!

Curbside Book Pickup Students next opportunity for curbside pickup will be Tuesday, February 9. Students who have books out, are encouraged to return them to the book return box in the Somers lobby during school hours.
