FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome back to Term 2 and what a great start to the term it has been. It has been a pleasure to hear the stories of what our students got up to over the break. I myself had the pleasure of spending time with whānau and enjoying the sunshine.
The holiday break is always a great time to reflect on the term that has been and what we have achieved. I would like to thank everyone for all your contributions in helping keep our community safe and doing the right things to keep Covid from consuming us as a school. I cannot thank the staff enough. They are an amazing group of people who give their all to the school and your child/ren. Their dedication and commitment to the students is beyond words. We are truly blessed to have them and please do take the time to let them know how wonderful they are.
As we enter Term 2, we are in the liturgical season of Easter. This is the time to reflect on the Resurrection of Jesus and the promise that he gave to those who follow him. This reminds us that nothing can separate us from God’ love. Even in times of trouble the love that God has for us is always present even though we may not feel it, understand it, or want it. When you look at what is happening overseas and even here in New Zealand, this is a time when we need to help our young people understand the actions of others, does not mean God is not with us and that Te Wairua Tapu is always within us, and this is why it is important that we continue to do his work and carry out is Misson.
Each day we encourage our young people to live by Gospel values especially Respect (Love), Community and Service. We ask them to uphold the Catholic Social teaching principles and to be a voice for social justice. We ask them to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, St. Peter Chanel, Bishop Pompallier, Suzanne Aubert, Euphrasie Barbier and the Mission Sisters through our Charism. We are blessed to be part of a Catholic Special Character school and providing lifelong lessons that help shape our young people as people of the future. Here is to new life unfolding around us as a result of the Resurrection of Jesus and bringing us joy and love into our hearts and community.
God Bless.
Mrs Shanks
FAREWELL
At the end of last term we farewelled Mrs Chantel Niemann and Mrs Andrea Dawson.
Mrs Nienmann has been a member of our staff since 2018, as our Caretaker. We would like to acknowledge all the work that she has done in keeping our grounds looking lovely. You will still see her around school but wearing her parent hat. We wish her all the best with her new role at Mr. Apple.
Mrs Dawson has been a member of our community as a parent and as a member of staff as a Teacher Aide. Her contribution to the school has been incredible and we thank you. She will be missed by many as Mrs Dawson has worked one on one with many students over her time in the kura. We wish her all the best for her next endeavours.
WELCOME
We welcome Mr Phillip Blunsdon to the team. Mr Blunsdon has taken up the position of Property Maintenance Manager. He comes with a lot of experience in this role and we are excited to have him as part of our team. If you see him around, please welcome him.

UNIFORM CHANGES
There has been a change to the policy on the wearing of shoes at school. Children can now wear either sandals or shoes anytime of the year. Please check out the below link to see what shoes are suitable for wearing. Note: NO other footwear is acceptable.
Due to the increase of cost in the school holding uniform items, we are in the process of transferring the final four items we hold to The Warehouse. This is scheduled to take place around the start of Term 3. In the meantime, you are still able to purchase the Hat, Sweatshirt, PE Shirt and PE Shorts from school.
