SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
CHOLLA HS 23-24 SY
Message from Mr. Miranda - PRINCIPAL
September is here! Enrollment is strong with nearly 1,800 students and Fall sports teams are competing! The staff is dedicated to raising the rigor in the classroom to better prepare students for life after high school. Parents, please work to keep an open line of communication with teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, you can email your child’s teacher directly. We are seeing many students arriving to school late and missing a bulk of first period. If your child drives, make sure they are leaving in time to be in class by 8:00am. If they are being dropped off, drivers need to factor in time for traffic. The best bet is to have them on campus by 7:45am every day.
Go Chargers!

School Social Worker
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. This month the school social workers and the Breakaway/Bring Change to Mind Club will be working together to help spread awareness on suicide symptoms and prevention. Posters, handouts, hotlines, resources, etc., related to this topic will be posted and distributed around our Cholla campus. They will also be hosting a lunch event this month with planned activities to share the various resources available in the community regarding mental health and suicide.
If you notice any symptoms of suicide or have any concerns regarding your student’s mental well-being, please look over the hotlines and resources below.
Library Updates from Tammy Case
The library is now open from 7:45 – 8:00 am. We are closed during 1st lunch, and if students want to come in during 2nd lunch, they must obtain a pass from the librarian prior to 3rd period. Passes are only good for that day. Please look for old books that may be overdue (even from elementary school). They can be returned to the library, and if fines are due, they can be paid in the business office. Our first speaker in the library speaker series was here on Friday, September 8. She is a film director and media specialist at the U of A. Keep tuned in for more guest speakers throughout the year! Tammy Case

Our 21st Century classes begin on Monday, September 11. Please pick up a registration form and/or schedule in the Student Services area or the library countertop. If you have questions, please see Ms. Case in the library or Mrs. Stoner in B1.
