Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
What if we applied this to what we consume? Research consistently supports consumption of God's foods and their benefits to our bodies. How can we take information and translate it into "action?" Smoothies are a great start!
1-2 cups of liquid: almond milk, coconut milk, soy, regular milk, water
1-2 cups of vegetables: kale and spinach are a great start. As you progress you can add celery, broccoli, carrots and increases vegetables
1-2 cups of fruit: frozen bananas, pineapple, berries, apples, grapes
ice
extras of your choice: flax, chia, raw oats, raw nuts such as cashews, brazil nuts, almonds ( 1/4 cup or less of these will add some great protein) greek yogurt, tofu (recommending organic if possible)
Someone asked if you make a smoothie ahead of time for lunch, will it lose it's nutrients? The answer is "yes" it does lose some nutrients. My question is...what's the nutritional value of the alternative? If the alternative is eating out or something processed- then a smoothie still will have some nutritional benefits.
At first you can add more fruits to less vegetables. But over time your body will begin to crave vegetables and you can experiment with increasing vegetables and decreasing fruits.
