Highlights for December
8th to 9th grade Transition Visits:
As part of pre-registration, 8th grade students will be visiting high school campuses during the months of December and January. Santa Teresa High School will host Santa Teresa Middle School on December 9th; Chaparral High School will host Chaparral Middle School students on December 6th & 8th and Gadsden High School will host Gadsden Middle School on January 24th, 25th and 26th. During these campus visits, 8th grade students will get to experience a little of what the high schools have to offer. The focus will be on exploring different CTE pathways, clubs/organizations and sports. This opportunity will encourage students to gain an understanding of the processes associated with an average day in the life of a high school student.
DACC Dual Credit Semester Wrap-up:
We have provided the grading scale conversion for Semester grades. Some important dates coming up for Dual Credit Students Include:
- December 2, 2022 by 5pm- Last day to withdraw from a FALL 2021 course with a grade of “W”.
- December 9, 2022-Last day of fall 2021 NMSU/DACC classes
- December 14, 2022-Final grades available for fall 2022
- January 18, 2023-First day of spring 2023 classes
Cohort 2 PBL Training Continues:
New CTE staff will continue to work with Zach Riffell from SREB to develop Project Based Learning units. Teachers will meet in person one last time this semester and continue to receive individual support from Zach on implementation and design of the PBL process.
Perkins Spending:
The time to order using Perkins funds is now. In order to receive orders before deadlines, CTE staff must make final orders utilizing Perkins funds before the winter break commences. Remember, for orders of a single item over a certain amount require two or more quotes before approval will be granted. Speak with your campus book keepers or contact Mr. Encina for additional support if needed.
