Ms. Melanie's Kindergarten Class!

March 9 to March 13, 2015

About me...

Hello everyone! My name is Melanie Vibar, and I am your new Kindergarten teacher for this school year. I love children and watching them grow. A little bit about me, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood through 6th Grade Education from the University of Houston. I hope that this year will bring us many memories! Welcome to my class!

Here's what we did in class last week:

Last week, we had Lucy's father come in and read us a book in honor of Dr. Seuss week. The students loved the theme and loved the activities we had planned for them! If you have any thoughts, questions, or ideas, please let me know!

Kindergarten Class Field Trip: Houston Zoo

Thursday, March 19th, 8:30am-3pm

6200 Hermann Park Drive

Houston, TX

Is everyone ready to go to the zoo? I know I am! The kindergarten teachers and I have collaborated together to organize a field trip to the Houston Zoo. This is a great opportunity for the kids to explore and see different animals we are learning about in class. We will be leaving school via school bus at 8:30 AM. We will be back at school by 3:00 PM. The cost is $15. This small fee covers lunch, transportation, and a class shirt. If you would like to volunteer please send me an e-mail with your name and your child's name. Thank you so much!

In this week's math lesson:

Math has been so much fun this week! For this week we will be learning about adding using animal and paw-print counters. In the children's homework folder this week, I have provided a worksheet you can complete with them. Here is a picture I took of a student completing the work in class.
