Farragut Weekly Updates - 10/20/17

From the desk of Principal Ngo

Dear Farragut Foxes,

With Red Ribbon Week coming up next week, I’ve been thinking about how we help Farragut Foxes make good choices. As a school leader, lots of great ideas often land on my desk. With so many competing ideas and programs, it is important to have filters for making good choices for our school. Here are the decision-making filters that run through my head when I’m faced with making some tough choices:

  • Is it good for kids?
  • Is it sustainable?
  • Does it build capacity for kids and adults?
  • Is it aligned with the current program or does it drain resources from our current goals?

Having these filters, helps me stay focused on building a school program that continues to help our school grow toward a mission of success for all.

As a parent, I also have filters that help my family make good decisions. With so many things filling up our days, our family tries to engage in activities that connect back to our house rules:

  1. Love yourself (be you).
  2. Be kind to others.
  3. Learn from everyone.
  4. Be honest.
  5. Challenge to be better.

How does your family make decisions? What kind of conversations do you have with your kids that help them make healthy lifestyle choices? Can't wait to see you all at the Fall Festival!

Your proud principal,

Rebecca Ngo

P.S. – Don’t forget to wear red on Friday for Red Ribbon Week!

Morning Line Up

The morning line up is a time for students to chat quietly with friends in line and get ready to go into classrooms. Please help our students follow the morning rules. There is no playing in the morning as there is no supervision prior to the line up time. Students and parents should be off wheels (scooters, skateboards, skates, etc). Thanks for keeping all our students safe.
