Welcome Back Information:
Curriculum News:
- Required Staff Development day on August 22nd. Sessions will be held at Pollard for K-5. Please be aware that pacing for K-5 math has been updated and we will share more about this in the coming weeks.
- All K-5 Ready materials were delivered in July. Mandy will work to schedule a time to give out textbooks during the workdays. Our ASIS team has created a Frequently Asked Questions Documents about Ready.
- The testing calendar for the 18-19 year is almost complete. Ready assessment dates will be added soon. Reminder: we will have NC check-ins for 3-8 math, 4-8 ELA and for 5th and 8th science we will use DUAs.
- All K-5 Classroom Teachers (DL & traditional) will attend BUF training on August 21st from 12 - 4:30 in the Staff Development building at Horton. A group of teachers and administrators worked on creating units of study this year and we want to make sure everyone knows where things are/updates that have been made.
Field Trips/Travel Tracker Information:
Grade levels will work to plan and submit a field trip proposal during the first weeks of school. Once approved, trips will need to be submitted in Travel Tracker. New teachers, below is information about Travel Tracker. Use this help sheet to get started. There are also 2 videos that cover what teachers need to know for the system.

Public School Works:
We will self enroll in required staff training this year. Please follow the link to log in to the training site, click Staff Training, click Click Here if everything is correct, click Available Courses on the left menu, in the search box type the Crs. No. (course number), click enroll then click back to continue and follow the process for each course. After you enroll in all courses, you can go back and begin the training. See me after our opening meeting if you have problems.

BEE Research Project
North Chatham, Siler City Elementary, Frank Porter Graham, and Carrboro Elementary received official word from the US Department of Education that we will be in a partnership with UNC for the next two years in a dual language research study! The team from UNC has named the project the following:
(English) BEE project: Bilingualism, Education, and Excellence
(Spanish) Proyecto BEE: Bilingüe , educación y éxito
