Planning for Junior Year

January, 2018

Scheduling

The Scheduling window is approaching! I will begin meeting with sophomores in the next two weeks to look at the new Course Planners for next year and begin mapping out the next two years! Then, the week of January 29th-February 2nd, I will be in the English classes with enrollment paperwork. Those forms will be due with signatures from parents and teachers on February 7th. Can you believe we are already talking about JUNIOR year?!

Dual Credit

Next year there will be dual credit opportunities for students to earn college credits while in high school. Details and more information will be in the course planner. Students will need approval from teachers and will enroll in the class, but no payment or application through the college will be required until next fall.

OTC Career Center

For those students who are interested in applying for a Career Center program for the 2018-2019 school year and were not able to attend the November field trip, another day has been scheduled for January 26th. Permission forms are available in the Counseling Office and are due back to Mrs. Nagle by January 23rd. For more information, please check out their website: https://academics.otc.edu/careercenter/
GO CAPS is hosting an Open House for students and parents to see what it's all about and get more information about each strand. For more information, click here: http://www.springfieldchamber.com/?src=gendocs&ref=gocaps

Missouri Scholars Academy

Missouri Scholars Academy is a 3 week experience for Missouri's gifted high school students on the MU campus in Columbia, MO (June 10th-June 30th). The first round of applications (to see who could be nominated from WHS) are due January 24th. Several essays, letters of recommendation, and an IQ test are required for our nominee. There is no state funding this year, which means there will be a $650 fee (students on free/reduced lunch may be able to have this waived). To see if you qualify and get application materials, see Mrs. Nagle ASAP.
