Students of the Month
LTMS congratulates our Student of the Month nominees for the month of May. These students are respectful (role models to their peers), responsible (take personal accountability), kind (helpful to others) and courageous (strive to improve well-being of others)!
Teacher of the Month
LTMS congratulates Mr. Baker, our Technology Education teacher, for being nominated as Teacher of the Month for May. Mr. Baker was described by his students as smart, determined and courageous! He reminds students, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” - Colin Powell
Below are some articles of support regarding two topics that have come up frequently in our school and the bigger community.
8-9th Grade Transition and Scheduling
5-6th Grade Transition at Schick
Mrs. Preisch and a handful of our 7th grade students visited 5th grade classrooms on Thursday, May 25th to teach students about expectations and educational opportunities available throughout their middle school experience. Students learned more about Ehallpass, Moodle, PBIS Rewards, and completed a number of activities such as how to use a locker combination.
PTO
We sure hope our teachers felt the love from our LTMS families/PTO during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8th - May 12th). Our teachers enjoyed special treats, such as muffins and cookies, a variety of candy, and a beautiful lunch spread from Don Waltman’s. The final day of appreciation week, teachers played trivia throughout the day to win gift cards from Panera, Starbucks and Amazon. We are so grateful for our teachers' unwavering determination and dedication to our students' success!
Do you want to be involved in the school community and support our teachers and students during the 2023-2024 school year? Please consider being a part of the PTO for LTMS by emailing middleschoollancerspto@gmail.com!
Daily Reminders

2. Hats, hoods and winter jackets should not be worn during the school day for safety reasons.
3. Tops must have a 3” strap and sleeve that covers the underarm and must be long enough to cover the individual's midriff.
4. Shorts must have a 3" inseam.
5. Earbuds, headphones, etc. are not permitted in hallways.
- They are only to be used with teacher permission.
6. Transfer big backpack to locker, use drawstring bag or trapper keeper.

Ring Ring Cell Phone Updates
Phones have been a significant problem the past month. If you have a message for your middle schooler, you can always call the office 570-323-9439.
Student cell phones should be kept in their locker during the academic (7:40-2:40) day.
- If a student has a cell phone out, they will be asked to surrender it to staff and may pick it up in the office at the end of the day.
- If a student refuses to turn in the phone, a guardian will be called to pick up the phone (and possibly the student if they are disrespectful).
- If it continues to be a problem, the guardian will be contacted and it will result in progressive discipline.
Class Meetings
In an effort to maintain a safe and productive learning environment for all students, our administrative team met with our middle school students to discuss expectations for the rest of the school year. Students must adhere to the set rules as stated in the Student and Parent Handbook and the expectations within our school building.
Please kindly remind your student that cellphones must be placed in lockers from 7:40 am until 2:40 pm. If a student is caught with the phone in their possession, it will be placed in the office until the end of the day and students may then pick their phone up before leaving school. In the case of a second violation of cellphone possession, the phone will be kept in the office and a parent or guardian will be notified to pick up the phone at the end of the school day.
Cafeteria violations, disruptive classroom behaviors, late to class and all other incidents will have consequences assigned. Our demerit system is in effect for the upcoming assemblies, field days and 8th grade formal. If a student has 3 or more demerits, access to activities and events may be prohibited.
We would love to have all students participate in the planned end-of-year events. We encourage our students to keep grades up, make good choices, be present and be on time each class period and each day of school. We appreciate your continued support as we finish the school year out strong.

Lycoming Career and Technology Center (CTC)
Starting in 10th grade, LTHS students have the opportunity to pursue and further their career knowledge and skills by participating in career and technical education (CTE) programs. Students who pursue these opportunities attend their core courses at the high school and then hands-on instruction in their program area of interest in place of elective courses here at LTHS. This could be a great opportunity for students who have future career interests in the offered areas or those who aren’t sure what they want to do in the future, especially if they would prefer to be engaged in hands-on learning for half of their school day! Please click here to learn more about programs available to our high school students.
Welcome Mr. Williams
Mr. Kenneth Williams joins our 6th grade team as a science teacher. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University with elementary K-6 certification. In addition, he has a Master of Science in environmental education K-12 with a math 6-8 certification. He is enthusiastic about teaching science to our 6th grade students, as he has been teaching this for the past four years at Central Columbia. Prior to this he served as a technology trainer for the CCSD and taught math/science to students in grades 4-6. We look forward to his 18 years of experience with students and athletic (softball and wrestling) involvement. We also look forward to his leadership in growing our 6th grade and science department teams.
