Nurse Merry
Nurse Merry Garcia is our school nurse. She has been working here since the dawn of our school -ten years ago. She loves interacting with the students here at HGMS, even if they are sick.
She started nursing after graduating from the UTSA Health and Science center. “I had always wanted to be a nurse because my mom was a nurse, but she advised against it. I considered Physical Therapy but instead decided to go ahead and apply to nursing school … and I got in!” Now she believes that she made the right decision and loves being a nurse much more than she would have loved physical therapy.
Nurse Merry wants us to remember the quotes “Work hard, stay humble” and “Treat others the way you want to be treated” because they are important to value throughout your life.
So the next time you’re in the office or the nurse’s office, say hello to Nurse Merry! She really is one of a kind!

For 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create and submit original works of art in one or all of the available arts categories.
