Author Coming to North December 2
PBIS
Our character power word for November is GRATITUDE! This past week, all classrooms had the opportunity to buddy up with another classroom to participate in a GRATITUDE theme—such a fun opportunity to bring our North Star Husky students to participate in such a powerful trait. Please take a minute to talk to your child about ways they can show gratitude at school and home!
NPTO
- What a successful book fair, thank you to all the families who participated! We earned over $6,000 in Scholastic bucks that will go directly back into purchasing books for our students! We use Scholastic book money to purchase Birthday Books (every child gets to pick a book on their birthday) and other literacy projects like classroom book sets and purchases for our reading interventionists.
- North parent art volunteers have been presenting in the classrooms about “Maya Art and Culture in Guatemala”. Students then created worry dolls and learned the legend of the worry doll. Look for these precious treasures to come home and ask your child about the legend of the worry doll.
- December is around the corner! We will be doing a Cookie Festival again for the staff appreciation committee. Sign up here: Cookie Festival Sign Up if you can purchase or bake cookies for our staff to enjoy.

Help-A-Husky at North
The holiday season is approaching and we are starting to collect donations in support of our North families in need. As always, we will be accepting gift card donations, which in the past have included gift cards for gas stations, grocery stores, big-box stores, restaurants, online retailers, and home improvement stores. All gift card donations should be dropped off in the main office. If you are interested in adopting a family in need this holiday season or donating items other than gift cards, please contact our social workers, Amanda Wood (awood@d47.org) or Valerie Andrews (vandrews@d47.org) for more information. No matter the donation, we are appreciative of the support for our North Community (Donations of gift cards, food, etc., are accepted throughout the school year)!
