Book Fair

We are so excited to announce that the Book Fair is coming!! In collaboration with the PTA, Fulton Falcons are having a Scholastic Book Fair from March 4th - March 11th. Look for more information to come! In the meantime, mark your calendars. The Book Fair is a great way to promote reading and build life long readers!

Learning Together Program – Prekindergarten

The Fulton Elementary School Regional Early Childhood Center (RECC) prekindergarten programs are making preparations for classes for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. These classes include children with and without disabilities. The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills. Parents of children who will be 3 by September 1st or are already 4 are encouraged to complete the application. Applications will be available and accepted in mid February and priority will be given to applications received by April 1st.


HCPSS is committed to providing instruction based on the statewide Early Learning Standards which are in alignment with Kindergarten Readiness. The fees listed in the application will be collected monthly regardless of the learning model determined by HCPSS throughout the upcoming school year (virtual, hybrid, in person, or class quarantine). Help Spread the Word in Your Neighborhood!

*IF YOUR STUDENT IS ALREADY A Fulton Elementary STUDENT, PLEASE DO NOT COMPLETE A REGISTRATION!* When registering a new kindergarten student, please exclude current students during the registration.


Kindergarten (Virtual) Registration Week is March 7th-11th, 2022. Details will be provided soon.

Parents/guardians of children who will be five as of September 1, 2022, must enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year.

Note: Parents/guardians without access to a computer should contact their child’s school for assistance in completing the registration form.


Prekindergarten

The HCPSS Pre-K program is a high-quality, half-day prekindergarten program. Students must be four years old by September 1, 2022, to be considered for enrollment in fall 2022. See specifics on Pre-K Program.


Gather Documentation Ahead of Time

Having all your documentation prepared in advance of registration will keep the process moving quickly. If you are missing documentation, your registration will be denied.


Student Identification Documentation

  • Student’s evidence of birth (birth certificate, passport/visa, physician’s certificate, baptismal or church certification, hospital certificate, parent/s affidavit or birth registration.)

  • Proof of parental relationship, custody, or guardianship. If applicable, bring legal proof of custody (court order).

  • Any additional paperwork that may be necessary due to special living arrangements or circumstances.


Academic Documentation

  • Student’s most recent grade report, transcript, report card from last school attended at time of withdrawal.

  • Documentation of Special Education (IEP), 504, Psychological Report, or related services.


Parent Identification Documentation

  • Parent picture ID: driver’s license, passport, MVA identification or other legal form of photographic identification.

  • Signed original, current complete lease or complete deed with your address, valid dates, signatures.

  • Current utility bill with name and address (non-cellular telephone, gas and electric, cable bill issued in the last 45 days.)

Support for Student Prize Cart

An integral part of our PBIS program is our Prize Cart. Students earn Falcon Feathers for demonstrating positive behavior being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready. They can then redeem their Falcon Feathers for various prizes from the Prize Cart. 5th Grade Baby Pictures Needed for Yearbook

We Need Your Baby Picture for the Yearbook!

Hey Fifth Graders, the Yearbook Team needs your help to make the Fifth-Grade section of the 2021-2022 Yearbook special. Here’s what we need…

Baby Pictures: The Yearbook Team would like to include a baby picture of each fifth grader in this year’s yearbook. Please send in a picture on photo paper (not printer paper) with the student’s name and homeroom teacher’s name on the back. The pictures will be returned once they are scanned into our program. Students can turn their picture in to their homeroom teacher. If you have the pictures in a high resolution electronic format, they may be e-mailed to photos@fespta.org. The deadline for baby pictures to be turned in is Thursday, February 17, 2022. No exceptions. Also, don’t forget to order your yearbook by Feb 25th at www.strawbridge.net code YB112070.

Yearbook Info: The Fulton Yearbook is available to purchase. Go to www.strawbridge.net using the online code YB112070. Softcover books are $25 and Hardcover books are $30. Ordering deadline is 2/25/22.

Kindness Pantry Drive Going on NOW! During Kindness Week

What better way to teach kids kindness and the spirit of giving then engaging them in our school supply drive, benefiting students in Howard County. Monday, February 14- Friday, February 18 there will be a drop box in the front of the school for donated supplies. See flier below for supplies we need. Thanks for your generosity!


River House Pizza Kit Pick-Up

Please pick-up your River House pizza kit orders on February 16th between 4:30-6:30PM on Harrison Street in the Maple Lawn Community. Thanks to all those who supported this fundraiser, we hope you enjoy your pizzas!


Nominate an Outstanding Educator!

The annual HCPSS Educator Recognition Program sponsored by the Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee (GTAC) celebrates educators who demonstrate exemplary commitment to the needs of advanced-level learners and/or the Howard County G/T Education Program.

Now through March 4, families and students have the opportunity to recognize a G/T Resource Teacher, content or classroom teacher, or administrator who has enriched the educational experience of advanced-level learners. ALL educators for whom submissions are received will be recognized.

Submissions will be accepted via an online form, which includes a minimum 150-word description of the educator’s contribution to the education of advanced-level learners. Information and submission instructions are available online.

Vaccination for Children 5-11

Art Camps With Mrs. Wasilewski

Come out an enjoy a week of art making. These art camps are designed to enhance the skill levels of each individual. Explore and learn about different mediums and techniques. Each camp includes all new art experiences and will not repeat activities for campers who are interested in participating in more than one camp.


Campers should bring an art smock each day. Camps are open for anyone ages 8-13. Pricing is available at each Boosters website and is school specific.

Kids on Campus Summer Enrichment Programs

The 2022 Kids on Campus, Howard Community College (HCC), summer registration opened January 27th for ages 6-17. Our program runs from June 22 through August 19 with both half and full day options. We offer many unique and imaginative summer courses. In addition, we offer before and after care options for working parents. Brochures are in the front office at Fulton, or you can find more information at https://www.howardcc.edu/programs-courses/continuing-education/courses/kids-on-campus/. Scholarships are available for qualifying students.

Online enrollment requests for currently enrolled HCPSS students is open now through Tuesday, February 15 at 6 p.m. Please reference the HCPSS News posting. Upcoming CoGAT Testing

Attention 3rd Grade Families-4th Grade GT Math Placements

HCPSS will administer CogAT to all 3rd grade students February 14 to March 4th. Placements for 4th grade GT Math will be made following the CogAT administration and will include all available performance and assessment data in accordance with Maryland COMAR for Gifted and Talented Education. Fulton will give the CogAT assessment on February 22-24 with make-ups being given until March 4th.


Attention 5th Grade Families-Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Testing:

Middle School GT Class Recommendations
Although the CogAT administration was postponed, all 5th grade students will be considered for potential placement in 6th GT classes using all available performance and assessment data in accordance with Maryland COMAR for Gifted and Talented Education. This includes data from students’ 3rd grade CogAT administration in December 2019, if available.


From February 14th to March 4th, HCPSS plans to administer CogAT to any 5th grade students who do not have a prior CogAT score as well as all students in 5th grade GT Math. All 5th graders will not be assessed. The data will assist with identification for Accelerated GT Math and provide an aptitude measure for students who had no previous CogAT test. Fulton will assess 5th grade designated test takers February 17-18 with make ups being given until March 4th.

Middle School 2022-2023 Course Registration, Feb. 8- 22, 2022

Middle school course selection for the 2022-2023 academic year will open for current 5-7 grade students Tuesday, Feb. 8 and run through Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Beginning Feb. 8, students/families may view teachers’ course recommendations, and submit course requests and alternate requests by logging into Synergy, selecting Course Request from the left panel, and following the directions available online.

Congratulations to Fulton's Spelling Bee Winner!

Congratulations to Emily Kim of Mrs. Gainer-Lee's class for being our winner of the Fulton school-level spelling Bee. Emily will go on to complete in the Virtual HCLS Spelling Bee online on Saturday, March 19, 2022.

School on Monday, February 21st- Mark your Calendars

Monday, Feb. 21, previously closed for Presidents Day, now will be a full school day, with both schools and offices being open. Earlier this week Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Mohammed Choudhury announced that districts may request permission and use the state-mandated closure on Presidents Day for an inclement weather make-up.

Nothing Bundt Cake Reading Incentive

This program rewards students with a free Bundtlet (small cake) when they read 400 minutes each month. The program is parent-led and home-based. For more information, check out the flyer here. To participate, download and print the recording sheet here. The program runs January 15th - March 31st.
