Reading! Technology! Fun!

August/September 2013

Welcome back!

We hope you have had a FANTASTIC summer with lots of time to READ and RELAX and PLAY! We are so excited for the new school year and everything that it has in store for us! The Learning Commons Team will be coming around to classrooms to see what we can help you with these first few weeks of school and then we cannot wait to start working with you and your students to answer questions, discover new apps, and encourage reading, reading, and more READING! Please let us know if there is anything you need or just stop by to say, "HELLO!"

Life Long Guidelines & Life Skills SPOTLIGHT!

Check out these resources!

Each month, I will highlight resources (books, websites, videos) that you can use to help you teach the Life Skills and LifeLong Guidelines for the week/month. You can add videos and other resources that YOU find to this Google Doc (or send them to me and I'll add them): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NFsEIehMDFzjrxnwBPpJsen3KBnIgTe4EHJwA2nJLC8/edit?usp=sharing

For August and September, we will be focusing on ALL of the LifeLong Guidelines as well as the Life Skills, FRIENDSHIP and EFFORT.

Some of my favorite FRIENDSHIP stories are:

Frog and Toad by Lobel

Ivy & Bean by Barrows

Yo! Yes? by Raschka

Leonardo the Terrible Monster by Willems

Elephant & Piggie by Willems

Owen and Mzee by Hatkoff

Bink and Gollie by DiCamillo

Some of my favorite books that help explain EFFORT are:

Muncha! Muncha! Muncha! by Fleming

Tops & Bottoms by Stevens

A Chair for My Mother by Williams
