From the Principal - Jeff Roberts

Dear Fairmont Families:

I hope this message finds you well. It is hard to believe that we are already well into the 3rd quarter and the end of the school year will be here sooner than we expect.

As you may (or may not) know, we have had some changes here at Fairmont recently. Chris Ryan, who has served as principal since spring of 2020, has a new job. Chris has been moved to the district office where he will be serving as a Consulting Administrator. He will be a mentor for new administrators in the school district, and I know he will do a fantastic job. We wish him the best of luck in his new position.

I would like to officially introduce myself for those of you who don't know me. My name is Jeff Roberts, and I will be serving as the new principal of Fairmont Jr. High. It is truly an honor to be a part of this extraordinary school community.

A little background on me:

I grew up in the central mountains of Idaho in the small resort town of McCall. Maybe you have heard of it? I went to college in Nampa, and I have lived in the Boise Valley since 1993. I guess you could say I am Idaho, through and through.

I am an experienced teacher and administrator, but in addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a father and husband. My awesome wife, Lisa and I will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary in a couple months. I am also lucky enough to be the father of 7 kids (Alexandra-24, Savannah-21, Chase-20, Saige-19, Addison-18, Havyn-18, and Jackson - 17). I guess they aren’t really kids anymore.

The 2022-23 school year is my 30th year in education. I began teaching in the Boise School District in 1993 at Les Bois Jr. High where I served as a social studies teacher, coach, and athletic director. In 2013 and 2014 was a junior high administrator for the Boise School District summer school program. In 2014 school year I was lucky enough to be hired as an assistant principal at Boise High School. I served in that position for 5 years (2014 - 2019). I was presented the opportunity to come to Fairmont as the Assistant Principal starting the 2019 school year, and I have been here since.

I am also a proud veteran who spent 12 years in the US Army and the Idaho National Guard. I served as an Armor/Cavalry officer and deployed to Iraq in 2010-2011.

I would like to emphasize that my educational philosophy has never wavered in my almost 30 years in education. I have an uncompromising view that all children can learn. And it is our duty as educators to ensure that we are providing the opportunity and environment for children to reach their full potential.

I am honored and humbled to serve as the new principal for Fairmont. My door is always open to you, and I sincerely welcome your ideas and support. I am excited about all we will accomplish together for our kids and look forward to celebrating our successes.

Food Service Information for the 2022-23 School Year

Non-CEP schools:

School meals were free for all students during the SY 21-22. Congress has not extended these waivers for SY 22-23. Starting in August, students will be charged for meals based upon their household benefit status.
