St Bernadette's School Newsletter
27th July 2022
Welcome back to term 3!
We continue to wear masks and try to balance ventilation and warmth in the class rooms. Thank you for keeping your children home when they are unwell.
School Board elections in September
Things you might want to know about being on a school board
- We meet 2 times each term (8 meetings a year)
- Training sessions are also offered for being on a school board.
- All of the work we do is together.
- Our board is made up of 4 parents, 1 staff, 1 principal and 3 Bishop's representatives.
- The board's main role is to set the direction of the school through the Strategic plan.
- The papers for each meeting come to you 3 or 4 days before the meeting and when we are together we know that everyone has already read them.
- Board members get an allowance of $55 for every meeting they attend. (Often people allocate this straight to their child's attendance dues).
If you have any questions about being on the Board I am really happy to talk with you about it.
Nominations need to be in to Annette here at school by 12 noon on 3rd of August.

Free flu jabs for tamariki aged 3 to 12
Free flu jabs for tamariki – Ministry of Health
Most tamariki aged 9 years and over need one vaccination each year to get good protection against flu.
If you have a child under 9 years old, talk to your healthcare provider as they may need one or two vaccinations depending on whether they’ve had a flu vaccine before.
If tamariki have recently had COVID-19 they can have a flu jab as soon as they’ve recovered.
Attendance dues
Please do not let attendance dues be a stress for you and your family. Regular payments are the best way to go but if at anytime you are worried about attendance dues - please come and see me. I can help.
If you would prefer you can talk to Barbara at the Parish or the attendance dues office directly
