Congrats State Fair Exhibitors!

York County had an awesome showing at the 2018 Nebraska State Fair! Congratulations to all exhibitors on your accomplishments!

REMINDER: All static exhibits are back in the office. Please pick them up before Thursday, September 13.

2019 National Championships Shotgun Qualifying Match

The State 4-H Shotgun Committee will be holding a Qualifying Match for youth interested in competing in the 2019 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships. Youth must be 13 to 17 years of age (4-H age). More details and registration can be found at –


The National Qualifier will be held at the Heartland Public Shooting Park near Grand Island on Sunday, September 16th. Final ranking of youth will be based on the Nebraska National Shotgun Team application and qualifying score shot on September 16th. Early Bird registration deadline is September 12th. There will be a State 4-H Shotgun Championship Match held in 2019. More details coming.

Are you interested in joining First Lego League or First Lego League Junior? Come to an informational meeting on September 10th at 7:00p.m. at the Extension Office. We will be discussing the options for having FLL teams in York County. Youth ages 6-14 can be involved.

Becoming Beef Detectives

New this Fall! Have you ever wanted to learn more about the beef industry? Now is your chance to become a Beef Detective!

When: The 2nd Monday of each month starting September 10th.

Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Age: All ages welcome

Location: York County Extension Office

Topics that will be covered: Breeds and classifications, cow-calf, feeds and feeding, digestive system, feedlot tours, health care, and harvesting.

Nebraska 4-H Fed Steer Challenge

A new and exciting program will be rolling out as a pilot phase this year. This is an amazing opportunity for youth who are 4-H age 14 or older and are interested in being leaders in the beef industry to learn from animal science faculty, interact with producers and network with representatives from the industry over the course of the year. 4-H Online Cat Club

Cat Club is a monthly webinar series offering educational information about caring for your cat and showing your cat in 4-H. Youth do not need to be enrolled in 4-H or in the 4-H cat project to participate. Cat Club is a great resource for anyone interested in showing cats in 4-H whether you have one now or not! Youth of all ages are welcome to join. Webinar topics change each month and cover topics such as vaccination, diseases, grooming, diet, reproduction, breeds, genetics, selecting a cat, at home cat setup, and showmanship.

The Cat Club series is held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm CT.

The first meeting is September 13 at 6:00 pm.

4-H Award Applications are due Friday, October 5!

4-H members may apply for Career Portfolio Awards, Diamond Clover Awards, and the Outstanding 4-H Member Scholarship.

Clubs can also apply for the Club of Excellence Award.

Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium

The 15th annual Nebraska Beef Leadership Symposium will be held November 2-4, 2018 at Animal Science Complex on UNL East Campus. Registration will be online and the applications are due September 15th.
