Dear Barbieri Families,

We hope you enjoyed the beautiful spring weather this weekend! We return to MCAS testing this week and invite you to read below regarding MCAS testing reminders.

Spring conferences will begin soon! Classroom teachers will reach out soon to discuss scheduling. Please know that we are able to accommodate you with virtual video conferencing, a phone call, and in-person conference. As always our goal is to meet with all families! Conferences will occur between the hours of 1:30PM-3:50PM during each conference day, please plan accordingly. Please read below for more information and don't hesitate to reach out directly to your child's classroom teacher for help with scheduling.

During MCAS testing season please ensure that your child has a good night's sleep and full breakfast! Please remember that breakfast is available at school for all students! ALL STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE TO SCHOOL ON TIME!

STE- Science Technology and Engineering

ELA- English Language Arts

Math- Math

During testing ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PROHIBTED. This includes cell phones and apple watches, etc. Please be sure that you discuss with your child that if they chose to still bring these devices to school they will need to give these devices to their classroom teacher/testing proctor BEFORE testing begins and they will receive them AFTER the testing session has ended. This is a non-negotiable. If any device is set off (rings, vibrates, etc.) during testing we risk having to invalidate tests.

Dear Barbieri Families,

The Barbieri School Instructional Leadership Team and The SchoolWorks Team would like to share some feedback from the visit.

Findings based on Observations

• 60% of the classrooms observed had small groups structures or small group instruction
• Barbieri School provides social emotional resources and interventions for students in need
  
• Barbieri School Administrators and Staff have established school-wide behavior expectations and most students meet these expectations
  
• Barbieri School Instructional Leadership Team has begun to develop shared leadership for instructional practices and shared expectations
  
• Barbieri School Teachers analyze specific data and reteach content to ensure student understanding
  

We spent last Wednesday morning developing an action plan to prioritize a focus area and we will increase student engagement and participation in our classes. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Our April character trait is DETERMINATION. When we think about DETERMINATION, we say “working hard and putting in your best effort”. This is a great character trait as we head into the rest of MCAS. Take a moment to do some DETERMINATION yoga or talk about the amazing poet Amanda Gorman with this lesson focused on “The Hill We Climb”. Take a look at the determination Smore here.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, April 17th in observance of Patriot's Day. Tuesday, April 18th- Friday April 21st, is Spring Break!

There will be an Early Release Day on Thursday, April 27th! Dismissal will be at 12:55PM. Lunch WILL BE served! This is a PARENT/GUARDIAN CONFERENCE DAY!
