St. George School Update

February 17, 2020

Immunization Records for all students

We need updated immunization records for each child enrolled. Please drop off a copy in the office or scan and email to Ms. Ladao at Thank you all!

The 60th Annual St. George Crab Feed was a huge success! THANK YOU!

Thank you to all of our families for selling tickets, volunteers who prepared the food, served the food, and helped with setup and cleanup, our alumni who SHOW UP for us time and again, donors who provided much needed funds by sponsoring an ad in the souvenir book, donating a raffle basket, or by simply writing a check and dropping it off to our school office.

Parents, if you paid for your crab feed tickets at the hall, your account will be credited this week. If you did not pay in advance or at the hall, the cost of the tickets is reflected on your FACTS account and can be paid online.

The field next to our school is ready for PLAY!

Thanks to our parent volunteers who helped round up trash and check the grounds for hazards. The field is now open with some restrictions and Mr. Howard and the teachers have it available for PE and some recesses. We still have some work to do on the fencing around the dugouts and the bleachers but the field itself is in good shape.

Did you see the email about our St. George Softball Team (adults) for Stockton Rec? Stop by or call the office if you want to be on the team.

Shout out to our Basketball Teams!

Our 6th Grade Team is currently in SECOND place and our 8th grade team is currently in FIRST place.

Both teams are headed to the Championship next weekend! I will send information as soon as I have it! Hoping we can all show up and support our teams!

St. George Field Trip to the Stockton Symphony!

On February 4th, our students in grades 4, 5, and 6 participated in a field trip to experience the Stockton Symphony. This was a special performance to teach kids about music.

We also took a tour of the Delta College Campus and talked about the similarities between colleges. For example, all colleges have an admissions office, financial aid office, student activities, a library etc. We discussed how independent and motivated students must be to manage their time and seek out resources through tutoring, study groups, and visiting professors during office hours. The students and staff are looking forward to taking college trips to four year universities in the future.

None of our students had ever experienced public transportation so this was a valuable experience in itself. Big thank you to SJRTD for providing transportation for our students.

We have several upcoming field trips. Please check in with your child's teacher for more information.

Does your child need a desk at home?

Having a dedicated space to study and complete homework is a good habit to develop in our students. We have extra students desks for sale for $10. What can I do with FACTS Online Tuition Management?

This year, all families are asked to create an online profile for FACTS. All of your payment history and payments credited will be posted there. We will no longer issue monthly statements for each family. If you need a report for the end of the year, you can print your own from FACTS.

If you are having trouble paying early in the month, we can adjust your payment date to another day in the SAME month. We need three business days to make changes to your account.

The application for SEEDS and St. George Tuition Assistance is open and available through FACTS. We encourage everyone to apply. Please gather your tax information for 2018 (not 2019). The deadline to apply for tuition assistance is February 28.

In February, we will open up the enrollment application for next year and begin collecting registration fees. For next year, the only way to enroll or pay tuition is through FACTS (credit card or bank account). Payments will not be collected in our school office.

Why did we switch to FACTS?

1) I felt uncomfortable collecting so much money through our office. It became a concern for our safety.

2) Our accounting records were affected. With the previous system, your cash/checks passed through six different people between our school and church staff - too many! By using FACTS, there are fewer chances of error and our families control the information. Our families can login and view their payment history. Our families can make payments online even when the office is closed.

3) Our school is absorbing the cost of using FACTS. You pay nothing extra except....

*If your payment doesn't go through, you receive an insufficient fund fee that is paid to FACTS (we don't see that money- it stays with FACTS)

**If you use a credit card to pay tuition, you will be charged a credit card fee EACH time. You can avoid these fees by using a bank account instead of a credit card.

Meeting for Current Parents and Community Members on March 10 at 5:45pm in the CHURCH. Please send at least one representative from each family.
