A Message From The Principal
A big shout out to our Tuscarora PTA and our community for taking the time last week to recognize and celebrate our wonderful staff at TuES. Our staff spend countless hours throughout the week ensuring that each day at TuES is a GREAT one for the students we serve. By your taking a little time last week to celebrate the staff who support your student(s) in the classroom, in the office, in the cafeteria, in the health room, at specials, and beyond made an impact, and for that we thank you for recognizing the work we pour into each student every day!
We are looking forward to the last weeks of school with you. There are many exciting celebrations as we approach the end of the school year, including Field Day this coming Friday, May 20. We know this has been a favorite in previous years and we are so happy to have it back in full swing this spring.
With just sixteen days of school remaining we do want each one to be memorable for our students. We ask that our students continue to exemplify out PACK Promise every day:
* We take RESPONSIBILITY for our words
* We show RESPECT for ourselves and others
* We work toward POSITIVE mindsets
* We are ACCEPTING of others
We want to continue to show that "we are an energetic community of learners who collaborate to meet and exceed high expectations" and that "we build relationships in order to foster a flexible growth mindset and achieve our goals".
Make today great,
Carrie Zimmerman

FCPS COVID-19 Community Update (shared 5/14/22 by FCPS)
Frederick County has been experiencing a steady increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 over the last few weeks. We are seeing a correlating increase in the number of cases reported in our schools as well. According to CDC criteria, Frederick County and all counties in Maryland are still considered to be at a Low Community Level of COVID-19. COVID-19 Community Levels | CDC
COVID-19 had been less present in our community and schools for several weeks, therefore, we are providing the following reminders of our current procedures:
- All persons who test positive for COVID-19 or who have suspected COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, are not permitted in school and offices.
- Individuals and parents are responsible for following our screening guidelines if they or their child have primary COVID-19 symptoms or are positive for COVID-19. Primary COVID-19 symptoms include:
- Fever of 100.4 or higher
- Sore throat
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Diarrhea or vomiting
- New onset of severe headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- FCPS is enforcing isolation of positive/symptomatic individuals and will continue to send individuals with Primary COVID-19 symptoms home and require isolation or testing before they return. FCPS is accepting the results of COVID-19 Home Test Kits.
- All individuals who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, are to isolate at home for at least 5 full days from the onset of symptoms. If returning before the 11th day of symptom onset, a face covering must be worn at all times on days 6-10 except while eating or napping.
- Class letters are sent home when a report of a positive case of COVID-19 in the classroom/cohort is received.
- The Maryland Department of Health confirms COVID-19 outbreaks in a school community. An approved COVID-19 outbreak communication is then sent, via Find Out First, to that school's community.
- FCPS is no longer contact tracing or responsible for enforcing quarantine of close contacts. If you or your child have been in close contact with a positive individual please follow the appropriate quarantine guidelines appropriate for your level of vaccination.
