January 2020
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Cold Springs Family would like to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
As we return from Winter Break and to a new year, we look forward to many more special events and activities.
Several assemblies have been planned for our students, beginning with the Yosi Music Show on January 7 for our Preschool students. Students in grades 1-3 are treated to the “Magical Math” Assembly and Kindergarten students will enjoy the Magic of Reading assembly on January 16.
Our character trait for the month of January is - Friendship. This year we have a new addition to our School Spirit Days. Polka Dot Day is January 8th. All students from Preschool through Third grade are encouraged to wear Polka Dots. Kindergarten Parent Involvement is scheduled for January 22-24. Students in Kindergarten will invite a VIP to visit with them in their classroom. As always with special events, more detailed information will be provided as we approach these dates.
Please remember that school will be closed on January 20 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his work.
The second marking period comes to a close on January 28, 2019. Final grades for this marking period will be posted shortly after. Mid-Year conferences are scheduled for the first week of February. February 4 and 5 are evening conferences and February 6 are afternoon conferences. All three days are early dismissal days.
Finally, after 40 years serving in various capacities of education and 19 years working in the Gloucester City School District, I will be retiring. It has been an honor and pleasure to work with the families of Gloucester City and I will miss my many years in this district. The time has come to move on, with retirement effective February 1, 2020. At the time of this publication, no official word on who will be replacing me has been announced. I am certain our students will be placed in good hands.
All the best!
