Midsummer Parent eNote

Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. It has been a busy summer getting the new portions of the building ready for the approaching school year. A tremendous amount of construction continues to take place on our campus and we are working diligently to have the new building completed and ready for the first day of school. I wanted to reach out and share some items as the school year approaches. There is a lot of important information in this eNote, so please take the time to carefully review the information that is relevant to your family. A quick reminder that the first day of school this year is Monday, August 23rd.

Construction For those of you who are unfamiliar with our construction timeline, here is a quick update. The new building will likely be under construction all the way up to the start of the school year. We will be using two buildings for school this next year. The first is the old 300 building that is attached to the old auditorium and closest to Lindbergh Boulevard. The second is the new structure being built behind the 300 building. The old main building, towards the East portion of campus and connected to the old round library, is currently under renovation and will be for the duration of the next school year. That building is scheduled to be completed by August of 2023. A set of stairs and elevator will be completed in time to connect the new building to the Commons, cafeterias, and main gymnasium. Meanwhile, work is being done to turf the new baseball/softball field and to move the tennis courts by October. The new auditorium will not be complete by the start of the year, but should be finished by January. A virtual tour will be shared out soon to help orient everyone to the new space and how to get between the buildings.

9th Grade Orientation The orientation for all 9th grade students is scheduled for August 10th from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Students should enter through the Attendance Office doors and the orientation will start in the Main Gym. The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from middle school to high school a positive one. Seniors, juniors and sophomores will be serving as leaders and mentors to the freshmen. Large and small group activities are designed to address students’ needs and concerns in an enjoyable manner. Lunch will be provided by Southwest Foodservice Excellence! Wear comfortable clothes and don’t bring all your stuff...travel light! If you have any questions, please call Link Crew Coordinator Mrs. Kershaw at 314-729-2400, ext.1331

Join the LHS Parent Teacher Group Our parent group is actively recruiting members to support this organization prior to the start of the 22-23 school year. This organization helps to support the school, its staff, and its students in a variety of ways. They would love to have new members and the general meetings are open to all even if you do not join. See the information below with more details to come:

Lindbergh Launch Days With school starting on August 23rd, the first four days are considered Lindbergh Launch Days. School Supplies Supplies for high school tend to be pretty generic. It is possible there will be some specific requirements requested after school begins. Here is a link to the district school supplies website:

Staying Connected There are many ways to keep up with events and news at Lindbergh High School. Our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages are used regularly to promote events and celebrate student accomplishments. Additionally, I will send an eNote every Sunday to keep you up to date on news and important upcoming events. If you are not receiving these emails once school starts please let us know and we’ll make sure your information is accurate. I will also occasionally send texts with important reminders. Finally, the district will do a robocall if school is canceled or if there is an emergency at the school. If you would like to set your preferred mode of communication or opt out of any of these options, please contact our offices.

One of the best ways to track what is going on in your child’s academic performance is to follow Canvas. For information about using Canvas, you can go to this Link or you can learn more by watching This Video. The SIS Parent Portal always provides the official grade report and it should be synced or updated from Canvas regularly.

Food Service Please note that the federal program that provides free lunch to all students will not be in effect this year. Students can still apply to receive a Free or Reduced Lunch if they qualify. An online application to apply for Free or Reduced Lunch will be available soon at THIS LINK.

Parking 2021-2022 Only seniors, and juniors whose programs require them to drive to off-campus sites, will be eligible for parking during the 2022-2023 school year. This is due to limited parking caused by construction. Seniors and juniors requiring off-campus transportation during the school day should look for an email from Dr. Fick explaining parking procedures for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your patience and consideration with parking that will be in limited supply this year. If you have any questions please contact Greg Fick at gregfick@lindberghschools.ws.

Bus information Bus numbers and routes will be available approximately one week before school starts. Parents and students can find their bus number at that time through SIS, and there will be a link on the LHS Home Page for specific route information including pickup and drop off times and locations.

Visiting LHS During the Summer Due to construction, we may not be able to have students walking their schedules in the building as we have in the past. We will give orientations and tours to all students during the first two days of school. Further, we are still hoping to give all freshmen a tour during our orientation on August 10th.

More information
will be shared soon as we approach the start of the year. Please tend to some of the immediate matters if they apply to you. In the meantime, you can contact me at any time throughout the summer if you have questions.
