Kirk Fenton News
13th December 2019
Dear Parents / Carers,
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! This week in school has been very busy as classes practise for various Christmas performances whilst still working hard on their normal school work. The classes and corridors echo with the sounds of joyful singing as well as a few coughs and sneezes!
This week I have been busy working with our school governors to recruit a replacement for Miss Hutchinson and I am pleased to confirm that Miss Hendrickson will be staying with us to take over in Birch class in January. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Miss Hutchinson and Mrs Darling for their hard work and commitment to our children whilst they have been with us. We are sad to be losing them but they both have very valid reasons to be moving on and I would like to wish them both well in their new ventures.
I would also like to thank all the Friends of Kirk Fenton and the volunteers who organised and supported the wonderful Christmas Fair last week. They raised in the region of £1800 for the school for which we are very grateful, thank you!
Finally, at our governors meeting this week, the governors were able to complete a health and Safety walk of the school with a plan to ensure the school is physically safe for our pupils. They have made some recommendations which will be actioned soon. They also had the opportunity to review class and whole school assessment data in order to have an overview of how the school is progressing and to provide a level of challenge to leaders. This is always a useful exercise that takes place several times each year and helps to ensure that standards remain high at our school.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that supported the Christmas Fair this year, it was a huge success raising £1,938.73. The success of the fair isn’t just measured in money, but also by the smiles and laughter of the children that attended. It was lovely to see so many teachers, parents and of course pupils helping out, not just on the day, but in the run up to the fair baking, selling raffle tickets, decorating grottos, organising stalls, setting up… the list goes on.
As we start to wind down for the Christmas break, we look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming festive performances where we will be serving refreshments and happy to answer any questions regarding volunteering or being involved.
Did you know… The very first Nativity play is credited to Saint Francis of Assisi who performed Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve in 1223 in front of a life-size nativity scene with real animals.
