Spring 2018
News from the Superintendent's Office
Dear Wachusett families:
I recently attended the Worcester County Superintendents meeting and had the opportunity to meet the new Commissioner of Education, Jeff Riley. Commissioner Riley is a long time Massachusetts educator who has worked in the Boston and Lawrence communities. His knowledge of schools is strong, and his educational philosophy includes the needs of the whole child. I look forward to working with Commissioner Riley on issues at both the local and state levels.
This year, all students in grades 3 through 8 will take the online version of the Next Generation MCAS. For more information about the new assessment system, please consult the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website. I continue to be impressed with the work ethic of our students and staff as they make their way through the Next Generation MCAS.
Finally, a reminder that the last day of school is Friday, June 22nd. This day is also a half day for students.
Darryll McCall, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Wachuset Regional School District
Every year, I have the opportunity to meet with town representatives to discuss the upcoming budget, the Strategic Plan, and the various challenges associated with providing our students with a strong education. In order to provide all members of the Wachusett community with the opportunity to hear about our proposed budget, WRSDC Chairperson Ken Mills and I worked with Holden Cable TV to produce a video conversation about the budget. In this question and answer program, Ken and I discuss a variety of topics associated with the budget including regional transportation, special education and more.

Paxton - Monday, May 7, 2018

2017 Massachusetts District and School Report Cards
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education creates Report Cards annually for every district and school in the state. These reports share relevant information pertaining to the progress a particular school or district is making in reference to accountability for student success. The WRSD 2017 Report Card is now available, as well as the report cards for each school in the district.
As a means to further enhance communication within WRSD, the Wachusett App compiles many of the important items related to the district into one convenient location. The app is available to download for free through the Apple App store or GooglePlay. The app has several components that will be helpful for students and families, including links to:
- the school calendar,
- athletic schedules for the high school,
- a staff directory by school with direct links to email,
- the mobile PowerSchool site,
- the superintendent’s blog,
- school lunch menus,
- school listings with phone numbers,
- a map that will provide directions to any school in the district,
- the WRSD bus provider, AA Transportation and,
- the WRSD website
