PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
With the change of seasons and spring upon us, Advantage Arts Academy is a step closer to opening and providing quality education for the students. We have made many strides toward the first day of school.
Virtual tours of the building provide a look into the progress towards completion. On the tour, at the entrance of the building we learned more about the art nook and the space for the library. Next on the tour was Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes on the first floor and 3rd – 6th will be on the second floor. Finally, we saw the gymnasium. Make sure to check into our Facebook every few weeks for the date of our next virtual building tour.
We are actively hiring staff for the school. Teachers have been reading stories on Facebook to introduce themselves to the school community. Make sure to look back on our posts to see our staff. As we hire more teachers, we will introduce them on social media and on our website. If you know a great teacher that loves the arts, encourage them to apply online.
We have started gathering parents to form Ensembles (committees) to help open the school. Below is a list of Ensemble groups and a description of each ensemble’s responsibilities. If you would like to get involved and volunteer, email Mrs. Evans at levans@advantagearts.org and let her know your chosen Ensemble.
- Marketing Ensemble – promoting the school to encourage enrollment, sharing and posting on social media, and passing out flyers
- Library Ensemble – Finding and collecting donations of books for the library
- Safety Ensemble – Collecting items for emergency backpacks, car loop development and implementation, and Watch Dog program
- Donations Ensemble – work to write grants, organize fundraising, and collect donations from local business
- Opening Family Activities Ensemble – Plan events during the summer for families to come together so students can build friendships before school begins
Make sure to go to Facebook and Instagram to follow our pages. On these sites, view our challenges and post your creations.
We learn and grow as we express our creativity and we look forward to helping your children develop their creativity.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The construction company has completed much of the grading for the play field and will be starting the sprinkler system around the building. As soon as that is done in the field, it will be hydro-seeded so grass will start growing and be ready for the kids.
The exterior of the front entrance is underway and some of the doors have arrived and been installed.
Inside the building, sheetrock is finishing up. Final taping, mudding, and sanding is taking place on the first floor in preparation for paint. Sheet rock should be finished up this week and then will move into taping, mudding, and sanding to be ready for paint.
Handrails and other items are getting prepped for paint this week as well.
Prep work for the tile in the bathrooms and kitchen is started. We should also see tile going in very soon.
We’ll see some great changes in the way the building looks this week! We’ll start seeing it transform from a construction site to a finished school.
#CORONAFACE CHALLENGE
Show us your silly, face-against-the-glass, #coronaface! We are doing a challenge this week and want to see all your kids funny quarantined faces. We'll be picking some of our favorites and rewarding them with Swig gift cards.
Make sure you tag your posts with #coronaface and #advantagearts.
