PBIS WHES

2020 - 2021 School Year

What is PBIS?

PBIS is a school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems. Rather than a prescribed program, PBIS provides systems for schools to design, implement, and evaluate effective school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and student specific plans. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach and all students can learn.

PBIS at Weddington:

Weddington has being using this model since 2017. We have adopted a unified set of school area’s expectations. You will see these expectations posted throughout the school and your child will be learning them during his or her first days at school. We have positive systems in place to reward students for following the expectations and going above and beyond. This may have looked like in years past: your student getting paws for positive behavior in the hallways or bus lot, student brags (paper) being on display on bulletin boards and coming home, students get bands or LiveSchool points.

PBIS at Weddington in the 2020 - 2021 school year

Due to COVID-19 we have adapted some of our procedures to fit the needs of our current school year. We have adapted a few documents as well. Below are some updated PBIS documents and procedures for the 20-21 school year (currently – September 2020). We know this year will be every changing and we will continue to adapt to make our school a positive place to learn.
