when the world sleeps

when the world sleeps
a new year a new me a new life a new
time waiting planning crying
i am
drowning
it is not a slow death, nor
even a death at all, no, i am rising, slowly,
from the sea though sometimes i believe i am falling
from the sun
i am happier roughly 51% of the time now and i am glad
but i still lapse back into that wallowing despair
every so often
